I think they combined the two colors in the last picture, the black with the "light" aluminum color looks weird.

I like the new thinness of it though.

I actually prefer that to the black with darker aluminium!

Dont know, but I am not impressed much with this new iPhone.
I was planning on buying but think I stick to i4.
It does all perfectly.

I do really hope that a future iphone brings some curves back, the current version is slick but to boxy/square. I loved the feeling of the curved Iphone v3 in my hands

Looks very slick, but seriously, how are we supposed to pick this thin device up from the table? Or do we need to buy an iGrabber for that...

I know the back panel seems to be some sort of machined aluminium or Stainless steel, but has anyone noticed the rather odd machining mark in the middle towards the top. It looks like a square 15mm or so per side, but with a rather odd pattern that looks like it starts from the outside and slowly continues to the center.

This area would only have the battery on it as I dont think it it high enough to hold the logic board at that point, so what would need that sort of additional room, as you can see it is set slightly deeper into the back than the surrounding metal.

Edit: I see a few back on page 2/3 think it is NFC, and I agree if it is an Aluminium back. Not sure if it's some sort of steel though

I seem to recall some of the leaks not having that middle hole, so it may not end up being there. If it is, I’d say it’s a mic. (Maybe Apple has tried a couple different positions for the second mic, used for noise-canceling etc.)

Do you think it could be one of those focusing LEDs (or whatever they are) that cameras have? The red or green light it uses to focus on something..?

That’s a thought, yes. Hadn’t thought of that. But I think the current digital focussing method, where you can touch any part of the scene, is already good enough. Still—one more sensor to help? Why not :)

I just played with my neighbors Galaxy S 3. I really hope the iphone 5 is as light as that phone.

the only thing i hope, is that the CPU is really alot more efficient.
More pixels and thinner phone....i dont think we will see an improvement in battery, but also no downgrade.
disappointment:(
il buy it anyways just like all of you lol.

Ehh, I don't think I'll like the headphone placement. I hate it on the iPod Touch, because that's where I want to put my hand. I end up constantly pushing on the plug and wearing it out.

Agree wholeheartedly!!!! I'm so glad you said that. I've been unable to say exactly why it bothered me until you said that'

I agree, the phone is thin enough, I bet they would get a lot more cheers if they went up there and said "oh hey we made everything in the phone smaller to fit more battery, it's actually a hair thicker because well why should you have to charge your phone 3 times a day?

Haha!

There are no black bars! It will be a solid metallic body on the back. Those black bars will be made out of something called "Liquid Metal" ;)

It's one of the few engineered metals that radio waves can penetrate without any decay. It can also boost the signal if charged.

It will seamlessly blend with the back cover.

You have to be a moron to think Apple will destroy the beauty of the iPhone 4.

You didn't heat it from me!

It would be neat just cause if all this is true it could mean there is possibility of NFC on the iphone (of course, I guess I'll probably listen to the guy everyone says gets inside knowledge with Apple and tends to agree or disagree on a rumor and he's always right... and he agreed it will not have NFC so I won't get my hopes up).

There will be a shock absorbing material between the metal-bezel and the display-glass like in this patent:
http://www.appleinsider.com/article...patent_for_iphone_display_shock_absorber.html

I'm more concerned about the Display-construction itself. I hope there will not be a gap between the front-glass and the LCD Panel itself. It's perfect in the iPhone 4/4S

You'll probably find that they put this patent to use in the MBPr

I'm still holding on to hope that it will be more like this than those ilab and iresq hideous mockups.
I can't wait to bash, if I'm right. Which I am.

Thank you. I concur. You have to be IDIOT to believe that's what the production model will look like.

plus, there's this:
On August 5, 2010, Liquidmetal Technologies, Inc., a Delaware corporation (“Liquidmetal”), entered into a Master Transaction Agreement with Apple Inc., a California corporation (“Apple”), pursuant to which (i) Liquidmetal contributed substantially all of its intellectual property assets to a newly organized special-purpose, wholly-owned subsidiary (the “IP Company”), (ii) the IP Company granted to Apple a perpetual, worldwide, fully-paid, exclusive license to commercialize such intellectual property in the field of consumer electronic products in exchange for a license fee, and (iii) the IP Company granted back to Liquidmetal a perpetual, worldwide, fully-paid, exclusive license to commercialize such intellectual property in all other fields of use.
