Don't really get this to be honest. Added a much improved camera and adding water resistant on the S line was seen as a good upgrade. It's only down to the design where it's really dissapointing to me. I'm hoping wireless charging is coming as you would think apple have thought about people who like to charge the phone when listening to music

Dated phones, yes, can you imagine going in to a shop later this year. So whats new, yes we have this new phone, well its not really new, it's the same shell, with a little faster processor..., yeah, we've run out of ideas you see.

OIS smaller model, no that'll be on the pro one only.

Water resistant - if the current iPhone gets dunked, say goodbye. Its not rocket science to waterproof (resistant) something

Gorilla Glass 5 - will still have cracked screens.

New Macbook pro, yeah, 3+ years between releases doesn't cut it.

Whats wrong with home kit? I don't have kit in my home.

Touchscreen on a laptop - why? Same reason I want touchscreen on an iPad, to touch it. Drawing, reading - to be able to flip the screen and use it like an iPad Pro, whats wrong with that?

Cloud issues, I'm not talking about outages, I'm talking about things like sync not working properly.

Get over it? Yeah, nice comment.

Right.

The regular 7 will have OIS. Simple.

You do know there's a difference between something being waterproof and water resistant? As I said, nothing will be waterproof.

Look after your phone and perhaps you won't get a cracked screen.

It hasn't been 3+ years...

Why are you complaining about HomeKit when you don't even have a kit in your home?!?

Never had any sync issues with iCloud.

So, in conclusion... get over it.

You do know there's a difference between something being waterproof and water resistant? As I said, nothing will be waterproof. - of course, but to most people it is the same thing. As long as you can put it in water for a given amount of time at a given depth then they will call it "water proof", legally yes it is called water resistant.

Look after your phone and perhaps you won't get a cracked screen. - I've never had a cracked screen, but would be nice not to worry about getting one wouldn't you think?

It hasn't been 3+ years... - granted, but they could do with reducing the weight a bit, getting rid of those huge bezels and adding ram and ssd's that are easy to replace rather than soldering the ram to the motherboard, after all who wants to have to max out the ram when they buy a laptop...

Never had any sync issues with iCloud., just google it...

Why are you complaining about HomeKit when you don't even have a kit in your home?!? Point i I want it but there is very little good stuff going around compared to the competition.

So, in conclusion... get over it. - there you go again with the lovely comments.

People are allowed to be dismayed are the lack of innovation and progress that Apple are doing.

OIS is happening. I'm not saying it again.

Why don't you Google waterproof and water resistant? There's a difference.

No.

I agree the bezels are too thick, they may reduce them.

iCloud works fine for me. It has over 1 billion users, there will be issues from time to time.

Why don't you Google waterproof and water resistant? - I know there is a difference, like I mentioned, but people use the term interchangeably. This doesn't change the fact that it would be good for a lot of people for Apple to change this.

I'm just sick of the lack of innovation that is coming from Apple and some of the choices that they are making such as soldering ram.

The comments in this thread sum up a lot of what I am feeling - https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...ng-you-did-amid-sales-slowdown.1986986/page-3

At work I am considered an Apple Fan Boy, but that is slowly changing and I am now considering a move away from Apple.

I really hope you're right on this and that Apple is waiting till their new Campus comes to life and launch the innovative and quality products we are all waiting for for far too long. I only see one problem... that is that the competition isn't sitting still either as you can see by their products. Samsung is rumored to introduce a foldable S8 in April next year and when you objective compare the S7 edge with the iPhone 6 plus and the rumored iPhone 7 (if those rumors hold truth) you can come to the conclusion that spec, design, feature wise (even experience) the S7 edge wins. New and very good Android phones are introduced at a very fast pace. Even brands I've never heard of before are outpacing Apple at the moment. If Apple waits till september 2017, it's too late. Even longtime fans like myself are losing faith. Once I make the decision to switch (I'm already been forced by Apple work related to look elsewhere) I won't come back. I predict that by the time pictures of the rumored iPhone 8 come to life, some other brand has already introduced such a product on the market.

I really don't understand why people are so convinced that everybody who owns an iPhone 4, 5 will upgrade to an iPhone 7. Maybe you all live in the USA but here I see lot's of friends moving to Android and not regretting it. Numbers and statistics prove this (see iPhone share Europe/Netherlands). Huawei P9 got very good reviews and already comes with dual camera at a fraction of the price the iPhone 6S cost, even the iPhone 6 is more expensive.

I also hear a lot that Apple owns the high end market. Well, that was true till a few years ago. Here you see more Galaxy S7 edge then you see iPhones 6/6s. Galaxy S7 edge is even more expensive then the iPhone 6S.

I sound very negative on Apple and I admit I can't come up with something positive lately. That's because I'm very disappointed in a company neglecting their loyal pro customers and even milking the last dollars out of their way outdated product lines. Name one category except earning (milking) money hard-/software where Apple excels these days?

They are behaving like they are stepping out of the computers all together... They are behaving like they can't keep pace with competitors with phones... They behave like a company thats very greedy...

I want my old Apple back! The Apple that was passionate in high tech and bringing the best to their consumers. I don't mind paying a bit more if this holds true. But I hate paying those same high prices for things filled with last year tech.

There are a lot of factors you have touched on. I will keep it very short, with so many arguably great devices available the market is becoming fragmented. Eventually the "share of the belly" will be so mixed to the point of saturated with multiple competitors putting out compelling products. This fuels innovation, which is great. Apple I believe is well aware of this. Apple has the most loyal customers, and while they may be losing some of the share, and will continue to do so for the next 6 months (my prediction), that will change drastically. With rumors of a completely redesigned iPhone starting already for the iPhone 8 or whatever they call it, past die hard fans will be hard pressed to stay away. It's like that hot ex you have come to despise yet when she calls you can't help but pick up the phone out of curiosity. Look at how long it has been since the entire mac line has been since any significant refresh, same for the MacBook, and MacBook Air. All of this is right around the corner. 2017 will be huge for Apple, and it will start with the next iPhone (7) when people realize the "wafer" technology delivers the best performance from a mobile device processor to date. I speculate amazing battery life top top the cake... Though the design of the new phone is vastly unchanged, the device will perform well above expectation. That lays the ground work for massive upgrades as discussed in my previous post.

New processor? 256gb option? Faster touch ID (as compared to iPhone 6), 3D Touch (again, as compared to iPhone 6)? Improved water resistance? I think there are lots of reasons to upgrade.

None of those are reasons to upgrade unless you live underwater and it's the only device you've ever owned. I can live with the touch ID lag, I couldn't care less about 3D Touch, water resistance is good enough as it is and I seriously doubt that one is that much more resistant it'd really make a licking difference in the real world. 256GB will cost so much (in Apple world, not the real one) it's not going to be worth it especially when everything these days lives in the cloud. And what would I need a faster processor for?

What I need is the ability to connect to the devices in my current ecosystem. Fail. What I need is a LOT better battery life. Not going to happen. Reasons to buy that cheap plastic imitation of a phone: 0. That is, unless you're a hard core Apple fanboy and you just have to own everything they make no matter how useless they are.

So I guess you work for Apple and already know every single new feature that's inside the device?

It always amazes me how many people make their upgrade decision based on how much it looks like last year's model. We literally know nothing about this thing except it most likely looks similar to the 6s and most likely drops the headphone jack. But we have NO idea if there's "no reason to upgrade".

We know there hasn't been any big breakthrough in the battery development in the last year. We know the device is the same size as the old one if not even thinner. That means even smaller battery, and the current one is already a total joke as it is. -> No reason to upgrade. Give me an iPhone I can actually use all day. I've already surrendered to charging it every damned night, but just not having to worry about it until it's time to hit the sack would be wonderful.

I'm kind of at the point right now that I may hold on to my current phone longer than 2 years, provided its still functioning well. I'm not due for an upgrade this year, but next year should I choose to do so. The last few years haven't really brought any new features that I "must have" aside from Touch ID which I really like. Otherwise I'm quite happy with how the iPhone's are in general right now.

You don't know any of the above is true at all.

It's been rumored to be getting an improved battery and having to charge your phone every night is a problem? Why exactly?

You won't find any other phone where you don't have to charge it each night.

They could market it as a "retro" phone, the last of it's kind. Like getting a Porsche 911 in the last year of air-cooled engines. Could be really valuable some day.
