I've never been a black watch guy, but that SS in black looks amazing. Something about the silver one reminds me of a Casio I had when I was 17.

THOSE SMUDGES  This is the one I want and seeing those smudges makes me reconsider since I will be touching it all the time!

I really hope I can find one of these bands online after launch.

I'm getting a SG Aluminum and would really like a link band for professional appearances and I think this band will look particularly nice, even with the difference in finishes on the body and attachment ends.

I thought that combo might look nice as well. Odd they don't offer the black band for sale by itself.

It will probably smudge in real use, but maybe not that much. Remember, this was a demo unit with who knows how many people's (possibly dirty) fingers messing around with it.

It looks like the space black isn't really a true black but almost a very dark gray which is nice. (For me anyway) I feel it difficult to associate anything as SS if it's a solid color like black vs grayish.

Also, I'm kinda worried about scratches on this pricey space black and the smudging factor now that we see them in the photos. My more expensive SS watches have minor scratches but they're barely visible bc of the fact that they're SS.

It looks to be darker now than it was in September. And if Apple does DLC right (they will) then it will be very difficult to scratch the space black model.

Well, that's the big question for me. Is this DLC coating going to scratch easily. I guess we won't know until these watches get out into the wild, but I would be just sick if I spend almost $1200 on one and the first thing that happens is I have a big scratch on it. I'm really leery about getting the space black over the normal SS. I like the look, but I'm nervous about that finish. I've read all the tech on it, but I've also read in watch forums where people have had DLC watches pretty scratched up after a year or so of wearing.

If this is the case, 1 year of scratches, then I'm out! Even if I wanted to keep the watch as a 1st gen souvenir, it would be useless if it's all scratched up. Maybe get SS 1st gen and then maybe the dlc for 2nd gen. Yes, I'm one of those who will maybe get each gen as I do like my watches! :)

Well, don't go by me. Some people say that if DLC coating is done right that it's extremely durable. We will just have to wait and see how well. it's done on the Apple Watch.

Exactly what I was thinking. I'll go SS when apple watch 2.0 comes out..... For now the wife and I are both going with the aluminum.

Now I've changed my mind and am now getting silver SS. Unless the silver sport doesn't look cheap, it'll be Silver SS for me

Actually, good DLC is extremely difficult to scratch, hence the name.

I think many are thjnking the this DLC coating is better than it actually is. We will see soon but I am betting it will scratch and chip with time. Apple warranty will not cover this type of damage and I bet people will be claiming it is a defect.

It will be interesting to say the least.

People are assuming that the DLC coating is as good as it is on other watches, which is extremely difficult to scratch. You can bet all you want, but it has no real basis at this point.

You must also include YOUR comments in the "has no basis at this point", also! None of us know.

What I do KNOW is how Apple people feel about their hardware and how perfect they expect it to be. It will be interesting to say the least.

Except I do have the basis of other watches with DLC treatment. They're hard to scratch. So logically, an Apple Watch with the treatment will be hard to scratch.

I'm just wondering why they made such a drastic change from the early release pictures on the model. When I first saw the models I was dead set on the space black model as it was a nice darker gray color, but with the official release it was actually black

Anybody have pics comparing the early version and current space black? I'm not seeing the difference.
