Having used Apple products, both professionally and personally, for 20 odd years and experienced a few bumps in the road along the way it is safe to assume that Apple will not acknowledge the issue. I'm not saying that this is a widespread issue or not, however Apple tend to sort these things out on a one-to-one basis and would not wish to draw widespread attention to it resulting in tens of thousands of replacements.
Indeed. We've already seen the "me too" syndrome here, with some people even asking "is my screen white?". Amazing. I can only imagine the chaos if 3 million+ new iPad owners were officially told their screen *might* be discolored.
That said, during one of my returns to an Apple store, the manager did tell me that corporate has spoken on the issue. He indicated that they said "Some of the screens are different colors. If the customer doesn't like it, replace it one time.". Assuming this came down from above in a memo or phone call to all store managers, at least we now know that the standard Genius line, "We haven't heard of this issue." is a load of nonsense.
