@geta - Pro Camera (v11) is one of the better ones for a few dollars. Camera+, Halide, ProCam and a few others are popular too. I've tried a few over the years, and Pro Camera has always given me the results I wanted. They're currently working on a version upgrade to accommodate the iPhone X, but the current version works great.
I use 645 Pro and PureShot (same as 645 without all the film modes and all). I’ve tried most of the other major apps (ProCam, Camera+, Procamera, etc ) and for me and my needs PureShot (645) works the best. I always make photos in raw (except for a few quick digi-snaps sometimes).
For videos I use FiLMic Pro. This is a great video app that allows full manual control, including bit rate, focus, shutter, white balance, focus peaking, focus push/pull, zoom push/full, shooting in flat gamma and log gamma and so much more.

I want to post the photos straight from the iPhone but I get an error message stating that the file is too large. How should I proceed?

More than likely, you’ll have to host your photos somewhere like Flickr or Google Photos. Direct uploads don’t work well unless they’re very small file sizes -
Too bad the thumbnails get downgraded for these posts. Once you open the pics these are amazing

Next experiment: RAW photos.
Pro Camera 11 app. (iOS Camera does not shoot RAW apparently)
Saved files as .dng and edited in Luminar which has a decent raw editor and finally exported as jpg.
Since these were raw files, more editing was needed - exposure, highlights and shadow, etc.....

One disadvantage of the X is the ease of 'butt' pics while in your hand. Going for a run and about to put in a 'fanny pack'. When doing things like this it is easy to press both side buttons in when in one hand. At least the pavement is sharp. 
Out in BC couldn’t pass up a photo op of this bridge and it’s surroundings.
