Until the 8+ the 6S+ was my favorite phone/camera.They are close. I was messing around with portrait mode.

Very impressed with portrait mode so far. It still needs a ton of light (even with OIS on the zoom lens). But, when it works, it’s darn cool. Portrait Lighting is much more hit or miss.
This shot was taken in portrait mode with stage lighting. Not bad for a phone!

Yes, I used the studio lighting.Did you use either the studio or contour lighting effect for this one?
I agree. I am having trouble with Portrait with the X. It worked perfectly on my 7 Plus but now with the X it actually "cuts out" parts of the photo ... they aren't even there ... and the blur is not always where it should be. I can work with it and make it work OK but it takes time/work to make it do what it is supposed to do. I think in the photo of the cat in the post above, the top stair-step above the cat appears to be missing the RH portion.actually not impressed with this particular portrait blur algorithm.
the body of the cat should have been less blurry, like the foreground of the wooden stairs in front.
and with more delicate gradient.

My favorites since launch day.
Pretty powerful tool we've got in our pockets these days. Focos allows me to simulate more organic bokeh from certain vintage lenses that I typically shoot with when I have my real stuff with me, real game changer in my opinion.
Things aren't perfect, but most of the time it allows me to get a compelling shot that 99% will not fault for a small bit of depth inconsistency, without having my camera on me. One thing to note is the system will likely never be amazing at certain types of shots, and as the photographer you learn your tool's limitations. Using it for flower macro with branches and leaves jutting everywhere against a complex background is going to outsmart it every time, but you'd likely get a bokeh-filled shot on your own without portrait mode in this case. Just shoot with the 2x lens as tight as you can or very close with the wide - the lenses both will create great natural bokeh for small subjects.

Hahaha that’s “lefty” he hangs out next to the trail in the same spot everyday to scare the crap out of cyclists. Most regulars just fly by him and say “Hey lefty”.^^^ OR: last pictures from Iphone X: found completely functioning after owner was eaten by Alligator
