iPhone X Pics Taken with iPhone X

Would that explain the quality of the bokeh?

I think so. Key thing is if the “Portrait” label is shown when you view the photo in the photo app. If it doesn’t, then it was macro mode.

It looks like a macro shot to me. (And yes...it does make me hungry too. )

Some miscellaneous shots I’ve taken.

Those are some very nice shots.

Grabbed some today...first real test with this, nothing fancy or any "portrait mode" shots. It wont replace my DSLR, but as a grab and go camera the quality is darn good. If you zoom in while in Photoshop, you do see the "oil paint effect" (I guess that's what it's called?) Overall, this is the best camera on a phone I have ever seen.

This is kind of fun, two shots, both of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, exact same spot, first one wide angle, second one just a simple toggle to the telephoto. Stock camera app (I tried C+ a few times and I thought the PQ wasn't as good[?])

Uploaded the full size version so you can check out the detail.

Here's another I grabbed today. Focos is an absolute gem of a tool to have - I don't think I've been happier with an app in years.

I find that this photo even works at a significant crop, which seems to be rare with iPhone shots due to the noise reduction smearing and 12MP. Here it is massively reframed:
