You folks do realize that would be the image printed on the top of the box holding the iPhone inside it, right? The shrink wrapping is what's giving off the reflections there.
As for those thinking why they'd be doing the "grey" look, it's not grey, it's brushed aluminum, since now all the iMacs are that way, and perhaps... just perhaps they'll be doing away with the white and black Macbooks soon enough as well and adopting the brushed aluminum look
for everything across the entire Apple product line. I mean, think about it: does that not make sense to bring every item they sell into line with the same "look"?

I have no reason to doubt the picture shown in the OP here, I just have doubts that Apple would send out iPhones the way they did. They've never done that before in my experience, and just saying "This item is under an NDA" is like telling a child not to touch something - it's going to happen, the consequences be damned.
Gotta love having a letter inside the box saying "Don't open this package till <whenever>." That's almost as bad as a EULA you can't read till you open the package and install the software that says you shouldn't be installing the software if you don't agree with the terms of the EULA.
