Regardless of whether this photo is real or not, it did occur to me the other day that an aluminum or matte gray iPhone would fit in nicely with Apple's other hardware products, especially if that's where they are going with their other product lines (iMac, MacBook...).

I don't want to be a skeptic. I didn't notice a bad chop-job on the camera and the reflection looks like it's reflecting only the top portion of the cd case which means that the bottom where that carboard thing is wouldn't show up. The grey isn't grey but it could be brushed metal. That would only make sense though

This could be a store model or something. I wouldn't be surprised if it was fake though.

It throws me off that it's so big. I thought if Apple made their tablet device, it would be bigger than that. And an iPhone is smaller than that.

These things are usually fakes anyway though. Sigh...

It would be sweet to have an iPhone that big with actual software to run on it and a 3G network that wasn't slow as molasses, but it's fake.

You can tell by the look of the box that it's in. Anyone that has bought more than one Apple product knows that Apple's packaging is an engineering marvel in it's self.

That box smells of HP or Dell, or Samsung, with it's brown cardboard and jagged tear perfs.

HAHAHAHAHAHA i cant believe anyone has fallen for this.

Its a job by colorware!

colorwarepc.com ahahaha

Gotta love it when people make these kinds of posts... I mean, how is it that so many people can be members of this website, which is called:

MacRumors.com

with the subheader:

mac community discussion forums

and then they have the gall to wonder why people post rumors about Macs and Apple and then (*gasp*) discuss them? Can someone explain that one? :D

You're a year older than me on this site, so you're probably right. The picture is however obviously a fake and it has been explained quite in detail why it is. That was what made me wonder... Rumors are ok with me - but MacBlindHopes.com?

/nevermind

You guys are so cynical :D.

It would be funny if this was real and we all said it was fake. Who knows until Monday? None of us.

this could well be a creation of colorwarepc.com, which do modify products such as iPhones and blackberry's. then again it could be fake, whatever it is (and im thinking that it isnt the real thing, although it could be) why doesnt everyone just wait untill the 9th when you will definatly find out. no hope of getting your hopes high (or low if you dislike it) when you will find out what you are stuck with in a few days

People saying "why don't you wait" or "stop posting this stuff" need to put in check. Look at the name of the site. MacRumors. If we waited and didn't talk about Rumors it wouldn't be MacRumors.

Anyways, Colorware doesn't paint the inside of the iphone. Just the outer circle, back, and button.

What's wrong with the packaging? It's the same as the current iPhone. Same box, plastic tray, etc.

What's funny is not this iPhone pic, it's the posts here citing it's fake via uneducated reasonings. Like the colorware argument. Everyone knows it's not colorware.

looks to wide to be a iPhone though but then again... Or is this the rumored mac tablet?

Maybe all this talk of multiple iPhones doesn't necessarily refer to multiple kinds of hardware, but just multiple colors. IMHO, if this is the real deal, it got hit with the ugly stick, hard.

The big box it came in... and as was said, there are CDs in the box for absolutely no reason.... unless someone wants to just pull some out of their @$$ cheeks?

Or the uneducated reasonings as to why it's real right? Because the people saying it's real know something more? Or because they just want it to be real to tickle their fancy for new Apple products no matter how unlikely they are?

p.s. I would love for it to be real though, but I am not going to believe $h!t until I see it.

Are they supposed to send the iPhone in an iPhone box with a shipping sticker directly on it? The iPhone box is clearly in a brown box. I'll also bet the brown box was in another box.

They are not selling the phone in brown boxes to us! Further - obviously the CD is an introduction, features, training CD for staff or store mgmt.

I work for a reseller and whilst we certainly didn't get any fancy box like this Apple send us CDs all the time - mostly screensavers to put on the display machines or training materials. The CD in the box is the thing I'm least likely to question.

Noo! Nooo! Can't be! If that's it and it doesn't look better in the flesh so to speak I don't want one. There doesn't look to be any of Apples panache about this whatever-it-is.

Isn't it also a bit wide in relation to the height?

yea right!!!!

Where is the plastic covering over the screen that comes with the phone initially. He possibly could have taken it off, but unlikely because if that were so, he might as well had taken it out and took more pictures.

You're right  then it must be real!

Seriously though if we can find an excuse to everything plausible reason that it's fake then what's the use. And Apple did manage to package a training CD in every single one of their shipping boxes which the stores received many.

Either way, yes.... if you recall Apple's packaging boxes are their shipping boxes, been that way since the iMac G4 (which is what I remember, may be earlier). Yes, I would expect Apple to have a large box and in that box would rest a lot of iPhone boxes.

Apple would have told the employees to NOT open the big box. Apple has never ever shipped a product inside of another cardboard POS box then ship hundreds of them around the world. Only 3rd party vendors put Apple products in boxes.... yes, I have been there when products are taken off a truck when coming from Apple.

Not be nasty or anything, but it's a total fake.

So each one of those boxes that are in the stores (the stores are reported to have many boxes) carries a training CD. It's one of the many things to question.
