Some autumn sunset p
Went for a walk this morning to take some more pictures as well. Actually made quite a lot of them, including some with the ultra wide lens, but was quite disappointed by the amount of noise despite the pretty good lighting conditions.
What ISO did you have? Maybe you could’ve manually (even with ultra wide?) tried to set it at the lowest to avoid noise.
Anyway, you’ ve got some very very nice shots here.

Too bad the lense flare and green dots ruin even the best photos.

I agree about the green dots. With a bit of editing I could hide them. My photos were as close to automatic as it gets. I’d gone for a run along the canal path, and had to stop for a photo as it looked pretty epic. It was basically - stop, take a few photos, put phone away, continue running, check afterwards

Anyone tried to print their pictures and if so, what is the result. I know Nigel Danson did some large print outs and they looked decent (30x24 inches)

It’s not a flaw, it happens even on expensive Pro DSLR’s with lenses worth 10x the price of an iPhone.
Apple has at least 10x compute power over DSLRs. People buying an iPhone 12 Pro just want the best picture quality and not spending 2h per photo post editing.
Hoping for some software improvements to compensate the dots

They’ll never have the power of the glass lens though in a device that small. The lens is where the real power comes from when taking a picture and no amount of clever software and pixel duplication will compensate for that. I’m really impressed with the pictures I get from my iPhone 12 as long as I don’t start zooming in to each picture.

Pro tip: if you don’t want lens flare, don’t point your camera at the sun. ;)

We all wish we could take a picture of a toilet bowl and have Apple’s impressive algorithms transform it into an Ansel Adams masterpiece, but we’re not quite there yet. Maybe next year?
