Using a face mask as a scrappy tripod, I was able to trick the phone into a 30 second long exposure and got a photo of the Milky Way in Joshua Tree tonight!

Never taken photos before, huh? That luminous object in your photos causing the flare? It’s the Sun. The laws of physics are the guilty party here. Not Apple.

I'm all about taking night time sky pics. BTW, how'd you use a mask as a tripod?

Well, the mask was more of a buffer to prevent the phone from touching rocks since I don’t use screen protectors or cases. Laid the mask out on the rock because I was done using it for the day (everyone left at sunset) and set my phone down on top of it. Set a 3 second timer, set night mode to max, and clicked volume down while firmly keeping the iPhone in place so the phone would go to “tripod mode”

Dunno if it's just me, but feel like I might be enjoying the photos from the Pro (non max) more. Hmm. I've seen some star shots from the Note 20 and other android phones, seems like they are wiping the floor with us a little bit. At this stage I'm still getting the max but not as wowed by it as I was hoping.
