Could you please tell me what edits were made for the nighttime photo? Could you post the original?
Nothing too crazy in LightRoom. Mostly opened up the shadows and punched up the colors. Attached are screenshots of the adjustments I made, as well as the original picture.

Worth noting that was a JPG, so I would’ve had a lot more to work with if the RAW format would’ve been available in the native camera app at that time. I‘ve since updated to 14.3 and I’m very pleased with what I’m able to do with the RAW files. — I also took a DNG picture with the LightRoom app but it was garbage. Very noisy and unusable.

Some astrophotography with rye 12 pro max. Night mode for 30” and nightcap app for 4 minutes guided on the Skywatcher Star Adventurer for tracking. The nightcap app allows for continuous shooting / exposure for as long as you want, perfect for star trails. The fist two here were with Nightcap, 2.5x camera on the first shot for four minutes. Second photo was exposed for four minutes also on the wide / normal camera. The app never over exposes, so you can shoot as long as needed. It stacks all photos for a cleaner look.

Thank you for that! Kind of got a crash course in Lightroom!

You’re welcome.

As far as LightRoom, don’t be afraid to explore with it! Play with all the sliders and move them in every direction to see what it does to the image, and soon you’ll find what works best for your personal taste. The best part is that no matter what you do, you can always go back to the original image.

Another app I personally love and recommend is Snapseed. It’s free and very user friendly. I tend to use that a lot more when making edits on my phone, and use LR when I’m on my Mac or iPad.

Thanks...

I used night mode. When the iPhone “sees or knows” it’s on a tripod due to the lack of camera shake, you get a maximum exposure time of 30”.

Here’s my issue with that though: the act of selecting the exposure time and then the “shutter” is causing a lot of shake. Any way to remotely select the Night Mode exposure time so you you don’t have to touch the phone? I already trigger with my Apple Watch remote but I don’t see any controls there for exposure.

There is one way, when the yellow night mode bubble appears at the top of the iPhone screen, touch that and slide the exposure bar all the way to the left when on a tripod and you’ll see 30”. The time displayed though will depend on how bright or dark the scene is. If it’s dark enough, you’ll get 30”. I use a Bluetooth remote that I purchased on Amazon to trigger the iPhone when needed. But you’ll only see the 30” when the iPhone is on on the tripod or bracket. There are several Bluetooth remotes online to choose from. Or... you can plug in a pair of headphones and use the up/down volume control to trip the shutter like a cable release. That works well also.

In keeping with the apparent pet/dog theme here… the combo of LIDAR and portrait mode is just absolutely amazing!! Notice how the LIDAR has told Portrait mode that the CHAIR is on the same focal plain as the dog!

And just the general, overall ROLL-OFF in the depth of field, thanks to LIDAR, is just utterly brilliant. This is an amazing camera… for a friggen PHONE!

So 3-D like! Great portrait, looks like the pup is coming out of the screen. 12 pro or max?
