Here are a couple more. My neighbor’s house about ~1,000’/305m behind me. I took it this morning using 3 & 10 second Dark Mode. Considering the only light I’d coming from their porch. No moon out. The spider was in my porch wall. This is about 6x zoom. That spider was tiny btw.

Not too bad.

I think you‘re calculating this wrong. According to Wiki a 1/2.55 sensor has an area of 25 mm². A 47% larger sensor would have an area of 36,75 mm². According to the same page, a 1/1.7 sensor has an area of 43 mm². So the sensor in the new Max is smaller than that and the 1/1.9 number I read somewhere might be correct after all.

you may be right. Still a big improvement but yeah.

iPhone 12 vs iPhone 6.

There was exceptionally low light in the room (pitch darkness aside for one very small bedside lamp)
Beautiful cat! British shorthair, right? I had one of these. The sweetest, cuddliest, friendliest cat I've ever known.
And photos are great btw, especially the one with the 12 of course, but the 6 did also quite a good job (if we put aside the detail of course)!

she is very sweet 🙂

the iPhone 6 was okay, but has absolutely no detail. Interestingly the iPhone 12 seems to over-sharpen the image quite a lot so looks a bit unnatural, but is far better than the 6.

Not sure how much better these are compared to the 11 Pro, but they sure look great.

Out of the box I had a little trouble focusing and getting photos as good as my 11 Pro.

I compared the Camera settings between my phones and noticed that the new 12 Pro had “View Outside the Frame” and “Prioritize Faster Shooting” turned on by default.

I disabled these two settings and now I’m getting slightly better photos than my 11 Pro. The biggest differences I’ve seen are better balance, pulling more detail from shadows, I think due to the enhanced Smart HDR 3, crisper edges when you zoom in, and less noise on flat continuously colored areas.

Also, the Lens Correction on the Ultra wide camera is great. I may actually use that camera now.

Wow! Some amazing images here. I❤️all the cat photos. Doyers Street and waffles pictures are also great.

I’ve been trying to capture photos/video of the blue jays here, and my 2020 SE is not cutting it. Trying to avoid the temptation to upgrade.

Browsing through this thread, I’m convinced this camera is more of an improvement on the 11 Pro than I originally thought. Some really great photos here. I’m waiting for a clear day to put mine through it’s paces!

I've only taken a handful of pictures with my 12 Pro, but with what I've seen here, I'm super impressed with the potential. I can't wait to take more pics, and am more comfortable with my decision not to get the Max. This camera is plenty good for me.
