I don''t have a horse in this race but if it were my job to come up with things to do with Ping to make it more appealing then I guess I would try to team up with Sirius radio on some joint ventures. More than just accounts for the shows but perhaps joint ventures in content and promotions/ prizes. I guess you could do that with terrestrial radio too but the satellite radio is nationwide.

Pung should go beyond social networking. it should become a hub for internet stations with live content.

well said.

they should focus on developing something new and exciting rather than putting a dead suspected child molester with a warmed up old song on.

Well put. I just hope that MJ's kids are getting money from his music sales and not those relatives.

actually i meant the estates owes a lot of money to hedge funds and banks. they are monetizing anything MJ not to default on the debts

Oh I miss the days when having a "social life" actually required interacting with people, not a computer. I have hidden/disabled Ping in iTunes for OSX -- I only wish I could do the same on iTunes for the iPhone and iPad. And if you are wondering, I'm not fond of Facebook either.

Why must people be so negative all the time?
If you don't like the song or Ping then just ignore the thread and focus on something positive instead. All this effort people seem to expend nowadays putting things down or moaning could be much better spent on good things.

Adjust your thought processes, think "How can I make the world a better place" NOT how can I spread negativity about something that I have no interest in or care little about in reality.

Instead of coming here and posting things that don't add to the world, go do something nice for someone.

Ping and iBook - failures of 2010

Does ping work with non iTunes music?

I´m sure Apple will also unveil the lost A.Hitler diaries - exclusive in itunes online bookstore next week ...

Looks like it is tied to that Beatles deal ... MJ owned part of the Beatles catalog

Nothing to do with it at all, go and do your research.

The rights to the Beatles recordings are owned by the Beatles / EMI.
The rights to the published music are owned by the MJ estate.
The two are not linked.

Why must people be so negative all the time?

Most MacRumors Articles are voted positive by the people! Except the Beatles Event and the dead man song song here .. Why should the community not be allowed to mark *** as *** when it is so obvious for everybody.

I enabled Ping shortly after it came out but could not see any benefit. My guess is it will go the way of Google Wave at some point. (Wish I could get my $10 back for buying an invite to that service on Ebay:))

Slow news day.....

1) Rehash of an article posted elsewhere yesterday regarding Gap/Old Navy and iPod Touch point-of-sale

2) Release of the "djay" application for iPad -- a very cool app, but the app was already previewed previously on MR and there is really not anything new to see here (should be page 2)

3) Ping streaming of a post-humous Michael Jackson song.

Don't we have anything we can dig up on a Verizon iPhone? We've never had a thread on that before.

I see Ping as a feature, not as a service in and of itself.
I just don't see most people being that obsessed with music to make networking around it a stand-alone activity (and I'm a former pro musician myself.)
It makes more sense as a feature of Facebook (as much as I hate to say that.)

Britney got hit on the face by her boyfriend. That, too, should grace Page 1, I think.

While this song is just a tad bit too slow for my liking, I think his voice is nothing less of incredible and is much better than so many of the artists today.

It's not the first exclusive Ping content.

You need to be signed up to Ping to stream the Beatles' 1964 Washington Concert to an iPhone or iPod Touch. However Ping wasn't needed to view it within iTunes on a Mac or PC.

I’ll give Ping a chance when it doesn’t entail retroactively adding your real name to all your App Store reviews (and other online activities)! I don’t want to be Google-able quite that easily by some of the App Store’s shadier vendors... Keep my real name limited to Ping “friends" (if that).

Yeah, I completely agree with you on this. That really bugged me, too. I hope people are giving Apple feedback on it.

I want to like Ping, but it needs work.

Ping? What's that? Oh yeah, something Apple announced a while back ;) I hardly ever visit it.

And you just achieved this yourself .... how? By being negative about people who critized a commercial platform?

In case you haven't noticed it, but you just did everything that bothers you about others yourself. The only difference being that you complained about people while the other people complained about a thing, a product, a content distribution platform.
