Awesome stuff. Still, the ultimate things I want to control from my iPhone are:
- Central heating in my house
- Turning the oven on/off
- Adjusting lights
Why?
It would surely benefit AirPlay to have as many companies as possible on board.

Sony audio receivers don't have as high a status as those from Denon, Pioneer, Yamaha, Onkyo, etc.
I'm a bit confused, does this mean it would Airplay videos as well? Since you need to connect your receiver to the TV via HDMI anyways. I don't have a Apple TV, and I was thinking of getting a receiver. Glad I waited if that's the case.
I wish someone would make a simple stereo amplifier or even just a pre-amp/hub type thing that'd hook up to a regular stereo amplifier.
I have pretty high end stereo speakers and I have zero interest in surround sound but I would like a modern receiver that'll handle any format of audio chucked at it, work with airplay and either directly power a decent pair of speakers or output a high quality signal to a regular stereo amplifier.
It's irritating as hell that nothing like this exists!!
You may not have heard, Pioneer no longer makes TVs.Apparently you don't know much about HDTVs???
Uh, is that some form of sarcasm? Any HT receiver can supply stereo output from whatever source you give it, doing precisely what you just asked. And if you want high-end quality, you can find that, too. Although most would simply choose stereo output from the source rather than wasting time with a surround processor to downconvert. Can we get something reasonably priced? ATV2 and AirPort Express are not that different in price and are currently the cheapest options I know of. It shouldn't be that hard to make some sort of adapter for existing speakers--it just has to have an 802.11-n (preferably) capable.

you may not have heard, when pioneer did make TVs, they were of the highest quality. That was his point.
Thank god it wasn't Sony.

Use an Apple device for Airplay to add on. Although Airplay is hardly what I'd call "high quality signal". It's more for convenience.
If it's anywhere near the ATV2's price of $99, it's too much.
Seems like the ATV2 is a much more versatile HT add-on - and it does video.
No it isn't sarcasm, I'm not an idiot audiophile with huge piles of cash to drop on such things, I want a cost-effective solution that does what I want at a reasonable price
