Fair enough. My ATV1 is hooked up to my Yamaha 7.1 (but non-networkable) receiver via HDMI and I can pull video from either the ATV HD, the iTunes store, or the iTunes library on my MBP. In my case, I wouldn't have felt like taking Ethernet to my entertainment center. The iPhone works fine as a remote, too. No complaints overall - and I'd bet that my combined cost was still less than or equal to this Pioneer unit plus its Wi-Fi accessory. ;)

yea i'm in a situation where 3 of the 4 things in my home theater cabinet only have Ethernet (plasma, blu-ray player, receiver) only the PS3 has wireless, but i've found doing some HD video streaming with PS3Media_Server, the wireless doesn't have the bandwidth to keep up with the trans-coding of high end video.

I just pre-ordered with Amazon. I'll have ethernet line to it, so I'm not worried about wireless. Specs say iTunes Movie, but not that important to me.

What really sold me is Multi-Zone. I'll be able to use stream AirPlay to the outdoor speakers without interrupting surround sound for TV watching. All that and iPhone app to manage it all? Done deal.

So, last bit of help, one an audiophile would appreciate, and NOW I'll be condescending to validate your crap:
Wireless audio is ****. Run a wire. (that's what I do) http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10229

Peace.

Apparently not. I read an article on an audiophile website a while ago where someone was comparing the audio output from their cd player (wired to and recorded on their computer) with the digital audio output from an airport express streaming Apple Lossless. When analysed, the audio files were found to be identical - bit perfect.

Wireless audio streamed using apple lossless and output digitally from an Airport express is NO DIFFERENT AT ALL from the signal you will get from a wire.

Does anyone know if the 821 or 921 do Multi-Zone? Not just 2 zones but the ability to play a movie using 5.1 in one room and listen to an ipod on speakers outside. I would rather have an Apple TV than use the built in airplay but would def want to run different inputs at the same time to multiple zones. Also, would a seperate amp be required for the second zone (assuming it was 2 outdoor speakers)?

Thanks.
