I stay too long in Passion fruit Forrest.
For Mac forum, I see a lot of threads related to iOS device based on Geographic. For instance, UK, US thread on pre-order update and such.

It is first time joining back to Android after 8 long years.

Do we have any forum like macrumor dedicated for Android OS and devices please?

Can’t decide as to order 6 pro or hang on for s22 ultra (or whatever it’ll be called) for my android device

Couple great forums on also on;

Just had a little look at the case.
This is a huge phone. Like almost too big! (For me)
I know I will get used to it though, as when I had the S21 Ultra earlier in the year I adjusted to that fine and really enjoyed the feel in hand in the end.

I compared it to my Z Flip 3 (opened) and it seems to be exactly the same height, but wider and it will be thicker. And I think that’s where I’ll struggle. Height isn’t an issue, I like tall phones. But the width will be the adjustment!

I’ve tried the Pixel A Buds and the sound is ok. My AirPods Pro sound better, but I’d expect them to with the price difference.
I like the case better of the Pixel Buds and I also like the fit in the ear. Plus it charges via USB C which is truly so much better than god damn lightning which I absolutely hate.

Just need the phone now. Wish the embargo was tomorrow and not Monday. But I guess that’s my Monday night sorted haha.

Everything I read of people seeing both the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, is that the 6 Pro is just an overall better display, besides the obvious 120hz refresh rate, but the colors and inky OLED blacks everyone says the 6 Pro just has a higher quality screen. Gets brighter and more vivid colors and just nicer than the 6 screen.

I hate curved edge screens myself but for me, I really want the best display I can get on a Pixel,I don't want a mediocre 90hz display that the Pixel 4 and 5 have, I want the best tech a Pixel has; 120hz, deep blacks, high brightness, etc...
I still have my iPhone 12 Pro Max, and I am not a fan of iOS, but the screen and high quality display on the 12 PM is great, I want something like that on my new Pixel. So I ordered the 6 Pro.
I agree with you wanting what you want but it doesn’t sound like the 6 display is mediocre. It’s probably more like my S21 Ultra display when I turn back the settings to about the same to save battery. Still excellent.

Agreed,

My Pixel 3 screen isn't supposed to have been that great, but you know what!? It has been used daily (Not exactly a daily driver, but still) since new, it still is going strong with Zero (meaning none) burn-in, and is still pleasant to use. Compared to my 13 Pro, I do prefer the pro due to more accurate color reproduction, however, the 3 isn't too shabby.

Sounds like my next android phone will have a much better screen overall and I am pumped!

I found both screens to have a nice quality. Whether one is brighter or have nicer colors or contrast that boils down to the individual user. I did not find the 6 Pro screen to be worth $300 more than the P6.

I’m off to Chester tomorrow to have a mooch around. Will prob pop into the phone stores to have a look at the 6’s. Although phones in UK stores are literally kept covered in barbed wire, locked in a box and padlocked. :D
Slightly dramatic… but unfortunately you can’t get any kind of feel for devices in stores any more as they are just bolstered down to stop them being stolen.

When I worked at CPW, if anyone did try to steal a phone we were told to just let them. More than our safety was worth to try and stop them! so with that in mind, I’m taking my pliers to CPW tomorrow. 😂

That is such a sensible policy of CPW. Sensible but kind of maddening because you don’t want to see criminals get away.

I had two jobs where I had to deal with random members of the public. This was in the 90’s, USA, and I was amused to find myself informally appointed the “bouncer” at two of the companies I worked for. I was ridiculously tiny at the time. Well under 100 pounds in weight. But my personality, I don’t know, I was highly effective. I didn’t touch people. I just firmly informed them they were making unwise choices that would not end in the outcomes they’d prefer and to come back when they were calm and wished to be productive. Some of them would scream, rant, get in my face and I’d just keep calmly walking them along using eye contact as sort of a leash. It was really excellent preparation for parenthood. 😆

Sadly we were all treated horribly at the one company where I started. I’ve never seen HR policies so exploitative and horrible. At the time it just seemed baked into policies to protect the environment and property more than an individual employee. I’m relieved to hear that people are being put first. Things can be replaced after all. I really am not nostalgic at all for the 90’s.

For anyone in the UK that is still sitting on the 6 Pro fence, only the Stormy Black 128GB version is now left available to pre-order on the Google UK store. The rest are out of stock with a waiting list.

The Bose 700 headphones offer is on for another 4 days only. If buying direct, my advice would be to pre-order now to get the deal & change out for the model you want once received.

Cool hands-on. Never seen this guy before. Phone doesn't look too big in his hands.

Yeah I’m subscribed to Andrew Marc David’s YT channel, he usually does laptop reviews & the like but happy to see he’s now branching out to the other tech like the Pixel 6 Pro as he’s part of Team Pixel. He’s really good - informative & direct, no waffling or usual bs you get with a lot of YouTubers, superb quality videos and sound.

When I did a hands on in-store the 6 Pro felt easier to hold in the hand than my 13 Pro Max due to less width and less weight.

Looking forward to Andrew’s full review when the embargo lifts but his decent hands-on vid now has me pumped up for my Stormy Black!

Just got back from looking at the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro at Best Buy. I definitely don't like Stormy Black as that's a fingerprint magnet but I'm also somebody who hates dark glossy backs as they show fingerprints; and I wish I didn't choose the Midnight iPhone 13 Mini since I like using it without a case occasionally. Both devices felt light to me for their size and are comfortable to hold. They both also felt like good build quality to me.

Pixel 6:
I prefer the matte sides
More of a "boxy" design
Bezels aren't as bad as the pictures make it seem
90Hz is smooth when scrolling but I'm also using an iPhone 13 Mini so of course it's going to feel better.

Pixel 6 Pro:
Feels a little bit thinner, probably due to the curved screen on the sides.
Longer/taller screen so would be better for scrolling/reading/messaging/split screen.
The curved sides showed a glare which I didn't really like.
Scrolling on the 120Hz screen was just as good as the 6; I honestly couldn't tell a difference between 120Hz and 90Hz.
Screen seemed better and brighter. But the 6 doesn't have a bad screen at all.

I think if you're buying this as your main/only device go with the Pixel 6 Pro. If you're buying it as a secondary device then both would be great for that. I said earlier in this thread that I ordered the Pixel 6 in Sorta Seafoam and I am most likely going to keep that. However, if I could find a Cloudy White 6 Pro in stock I'd probably switch to that instead. Since I'm on Verizon the unlocked version of the 6 doesn't include the UWB support for 5G. To get the Verizon version which includes that, it costs $699 so it's only a $200 cost for me to move up to the Pro. With more RAM and a better screen I think the $200 additional cost is worth it.

Both seem like great devices and I'm liking the camera bar/visor more than I thought I would. Hopefully the reviews on Monday will make things more clear as to which device I should go with. But right now still leaning towards the 6 since I already have it pre-ordered for release day.

I like his videos, but cringe every time he says "coming up".

Just random thoughts. I think the pixel 6 display is probably on par with the pixel 5 in terms of quality but is bigger, has a better aspect ratio, and gets brighter. And has larger bezels.

Got to admit, my pixel 5 screen was gorgeous. Not pixel 4xl good but color accuracy and brightness were on par if not better.

The uniform bezels and symmetry of the display on the 5 is everything! Easily one of Google’s best looking displays in that “all screen, edge to edge” sense for a smartphone. Not much bezel on that thing. I’ll miss it.

I managed to pop in to the Best Buy for a very quick look. It was ungodly loud in there because someone was testing speakers, so I didn’t get much of a sense of the quality of the speakers on the phone.

The display was gorgeous. I love the black side rails even more after seeing them in person, because the bezels flow into the black sides seamlessly. I love what I could see of the back.

There was someone looking at the regular 6 and I didn’t want to stare over his shoulder like a creep and I was only able to pop in for a moment, so I barely saw it and I had to run off.

I only got to play with the Pixel Pro camera for a second. I liked what little I saw. But my time was so brief. It did at least look and feel like it could compete with my S21 Ultra as my top Android phone. It felt and looked “premium”. And it was fantastically light and felt ergonomic to me even with the security leash attached to it. For that reason alone, it’s probably going to replace my 13 Pro for web surfing and forum posting. Now I feel inclined to eventually get a Pixel case to preserve that feeling.

I really wanted to see if they had screen protectors, but of course they didn’t. I’ve ordered some Supershieldz film ones to try but I would prefer glass if I can find good ones. And even the film ones are not getting here until several days after the phones are due.

My Pixel Buds arrived. To my surprise they are white. I thought the white ones had run out of stock when my husband ordered my phone.

Wait for the sunlight test before saying the display is great. All phones look great st best buy.
