same. not really sure how people on subsidized contracts manage to get new phones every year.

i like getting the new design every two years, so S cycle which i used to be on isnt really appealing. love my 6, will be excited for the 7.

Usually they sell their phone for a decent price for demo purposes we will use a conservative estimate and say $550 for iPhone 6 64GB in August 2015. New phone will be $800-850 so you only pay $300 to upgrade. For someone who likes tech, $300 vs. $850 is a steal.

No. It's nice to have the latest and greatest device, but the improvements offered in a single generation are seldom worth it. I know that a lot of people sell their device so that they can get the new one at little net loss, but I find that to be too much trouble. Then you have to worry about resale value, and you're basically just renting your phone.

I'm considering doing exactly this in the fall. How much of a price would one take on a 64GB 6 after the 6S is released? And similarly, what do you think a 64GB 6 would be worth in Sept 2016?

Probably?

My 6 plus experience has been both the best (because of screen size) and worst (most bugs I have ever experienced, performance is generally slower than the 5S) iPhone I have ever had.

I will probably opt for a 6s, but if it isn't flawless I will just go back to the Plus

I have the iPhone 6. My plans are to get the iphone 6s when it is released as it always is.

However, plans can change and I do have half temptation of stayng with the 6 until the 7 comes out. The iPhone 6 camera is great. The lack of RAM is an annoyance on occasion, but something I can deal with if the 6s doesn't bring a whole lot to the table.

I own the 6 and will most certainly get the 6s. If however they bring the 6s+ size down to, or bring the 6s size up to ~5.0 I'd love it!

Add a poll.

I bought the 6+ at full price to keep my upgrade available. That being said, I will hold on until the 7 redesign comes along.

128GB will hold me on for a really long time.

I keep my phones for more than just a year. My current phone was purchased in July 2013. I don't always have to have the latest and greatest.

I'm actually just as open to a Note 5 as I am to a 6s or 6s Plus. All depends on how much Samsung improves their camera's low light performance.

but then how does this work with the carrier since you sold a device they subsidized for you? they are cool with you just getting a brand new phone and adding it to your existing contract?

What you do with the device doesn't matter. The device is yours. You're only obligation is to complete the 2 year term.

VZW made me an offer on a 6 a couple of weeks ago that was a little tempting. If they make me a similar offer on a 6S after it comes out, it would probably result in a upgrade for me.

64 and 128 will take a hit. Highest resale value will be on a 16GB. Probably 550?

For sure! I'm so disappointed with my 6+ :( (performance, random crashes, however screen and battery life are awesome).
I will sell it as soon as 6s+ is available. I hope that I'll have enough money for new one! :D
I saw the SimCity on 6 yesterday and oh boy! so much smoothness! It felt like my 6+ is 24fps and 6 is 60fps. :D:(

I'm on an iPhone 5 since 2012. I will wait for the 6s.

I don't like the 6 because it has just 1GB of RAM (say what you say, but 2GB will make a huge difference, especially over time), and the rest is not a huge bump.

The 6s will finally have 2GB of RAM, an incredible camera, and who knows what else (s models always have something special which we know only 2-3 months before launch).

So, definitely waiting for the 6s.

Obviously I will also consider android phones. You can buy a top of the range phone for € 300.

PS: the 6 Plus is the iPad 3 of phones. Worst Apple phone you can get.

My stepdaughters have my old 5s and a 6 (I upgraded one early by using my iPad line's upgrade), by August both of their lines will have upgrades available. So we'll hand down my husband and I's 6+'s to them and get the 6s+'s for us as soon as they're available.

For the past 8 years this is how my husband and I always get the newest phones, we pass ours down to the 2 daughters and we always use the upgrades on our lines. We trade in the phones that the girls will no longer be using and we end up owing next to nothing out of pocket after purchasing our new ones. We take great care of our phones, so the girls always get phones that are practically new, and still newer models than most of their friends. It may not be practical for everyone, but this method works great for us! :D

Lol, for us it's the reverse. My brother and I get the latest models (at subsidized pricing) while our parents get our 1-year old phones. Sometimes we sell or trade-in the old phones, sometimes we give them away to relatives or sometimes we just keep them as backup (or for nostalgia ). We've got our iPhones in Speck Candyshell cases so they're always in like new, mint condition when our parents get them. :)

For those with iphone 6 or iphone 6 plus , do you plan to get iphone 6s when it's released ? ( rumor of more ran , better camera ) , or will you use your iPhone 6 for two or more years ?

Yup. Buy full price. Sell for highest price I can. Buy full price. Repeat.

I'm actually not sure I'm eligible for jump on T-Mobile everytime I upgrade because I have such a high deposit. But I might move away from iPhone and try android again, I'm not sure though I do love my iPhone 6+ tho.

I don't think so. I've sometimes upgraded yearly and sometimes every other year, and I've decided that every year isn't worth it, as the new one is never that much of an improvement on the previous generation. A two generation jump feels more worth it in my experience.
