Ahh, i see what's going on now...You are one of those that thinks overly defending and kissing up to the devs will get them to release what they have out of kindness. I've seen a lot of this in the android community. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it doesn't work.;)

The real devs know better than to dangle something in front of others. I still say this was all for attention. It's fun to stir stuff up when bored. Anyone that jailbreaks KNOWS better than to update to a major ios change without first checking jailbreak status.

Edit: I do believe they have a jailbreak, but also believe it was announced this early for attention.

I accidentally upgraded my jb 4s to 6.0 when I had to do a restore. My wife still has 5.1.1 on her phone. Any way to use her phone to downgrade mine back?

All i am seeing are some teenage hormones trying to grow up, still has a ways to go though

We are all anciously waiting for your first mature post and your jailbrake as you seem to be all knowing on the subject.
 
I think 6.0.X are safe, but I'd definitely avoid 6.1 until its given the okay. That's speculation though. I'm staying put to be sure!
 
On another note, it's amazing to see how apple has improved their security since the first iPhone came out. I remember hearing a teen had hacked it the first day...I wonder if what he's up to these days?

What are the odds he HELPS apple look for exploits these days? :eek:

It's a little ridiculous that we even have to jailbreak just for minor perks that merely allow the phone to work more like an android phone. Can't someone merge the two? iOS polish with android functionality? Turning on/off wifi or Bluetooth is ridiculous compared to android.

The best way to combat jail breaking is to implement the desired functions BETTER than the devs can. Wasn't that the motive behind Steve jobs and 99cent music downloads? Who cares about stealing music when you can buy a song, with perfect quality, for a buck?

The 4S was the 5th Gen iPhone. the 5 is the 6th - so I guess you are right...

Well, besides producing several public jailbreaks for the iPhone, he managed to obtain and publish the root keys for the "virtually unhackable" Sony PS3 -- a feat he accomplished within five weeks of his initial attempts. He was subsequently able to obtain full read/write/execute access and create custom firmware and homebrew. Needless to say, Sony was not happy.

It is unfortunate that his techniques were probably used in the huge attack on the Playstation Network that compromised 77 million users' accounts and resulted in shutdowns of the service.

I don't pity Sony because they also brought that on themselves by not encoding anything and just having it plain text.

Also, Sony sent Geohot into hole he hasn't come back from. We desperately need to gain 1st Gen iPhone level Pwnage; where the entire thing was ours for manipulation.
