I can understand that. Probably due to lag mostly. Thanks for the heads up though. Still on the fence about this machine. I feel burned from the PSP still, and i rarely ever fire up my ps3 these days. I may just hold off and go for the iPad 3 when it comes out instead, not sure. I should buy one, i can write it off as a business expense, but i have too many useless handhelds laying around collecting dust :/

Well I got mine simply because I traded in my 360 & kinnect as I wasn't using it. Had built up around 45 games too, so I got good amount at GameStop. Enough to pay for the 3G vita and 8 games. :)

Otherwise I would have held off and put my money towards the iPad 3 :)

Nice. Next time you should check out amazon, they give pretty good prices for a lot of preowned games/system if you have the boxes and everything that came with them. I sold about 150 games to them a few months ago and had enough saved up for an iPad 2. Anyhow hope you enjoy your new handheld. A part of me really wants one, heh.

It's really nice, but if I'm totally honest I'm not as bowled over as I thought I would be.

The games are all ok, but QHD on a 5" screen may seem great, but it's a notable notch down from the 4.5" nexus's 1280x800 resolution. Also I notice a lot of the games have noticeable anti-aliasing shimmer. My favorite games from the now 10 vita carts I have and 4 downloaded titles are Tales From Space and Escape Plan on PSN and Lumines & Rayman on cart. Games that have impressed me the least are Uncharted , Modnation and sadly Army Corps of the Dead.

I think the problem it's going to face is that as SmartPhones evolve rapidly and embrace quad core and possibly better GPU's and higher res screens than the vita, and that can happen within a year - how will that effect the vitas audience. Yes the vita is cheaper than a smart phone, but buy a 3G vita and 4 $50 games and you're up to smartphone pricing anyway.

Only time will tell I guess if it's a success in the long run, or if it's place in the market has been eroded.

Lot of good points in this post & regarding this point in particular: if platform-specific titles start coming to smart phones and tablets then portable gaming consoles have a great chance of dying off. For now, I own a 3DS (and original DS) for Zelda & Mario franchises (both of which serve great nostalgia value for me); and I picked up a Vita primarily for PS exclusive titles. Start putting any of these on a smartphone or tablet??? Then I won't have a need for portable consoles.

I am LOVING my PS Vita. I owned a Nintendo DS, but I never owned a PSP. I'm looking forward to playing some of the classic PSP games on my Vita. I never got a chance to play the God of War PSP games... nor did I ever get the chance to play GTA: Liberty City Stories (not yet available in the PSP store).

I have really high hopes for this device. So far I have Uncharted, Lumines, and Super Stardust... going to beat Uncharted very soon...

Every now and then, an iPhone game comes along that I love (Where's My Water, Cut the Rope, Infinity Blade, Carcassonne, Plants V. Zombies, etc), but none of these are substitutes for Uncharted and games like that... I still can't believe I'm playing Uncharted on a handheld device!!

This device is a lot of fun. At first, I thought it was stupid that Sony was going back to physical media. Now I see that they don't really care. You want physical? Buy it. You want to download? Go for it.

I think a lot of thought went into this device. I really hope it's successful. So far, I love mine!

I'm reasonably happy with my purchase, but when I look at the current release schedule of games...I'm left feeling a bit deflated.

It's hardly inspiring, most of the more promising titles are just ports of currently available titles. Also you know that "Call of Duty", "Killzone" et al are just going to be cut down versions of the console games.

Sony need to really hound developers for new content if they want the Vita to succeed. By the time the PSP got some reasonably good titles (i.e. Peacewalker), my system was gathering dust somewhere in a drawer.

Wait a sec....*checks drawer*

Yep, still there.

Just picked up the Wifi version today and got the starter pack with the starter pack which includes the 4gb card... I think i'll take it back and buy the 32gb.....

I'm debating downloading games or buying them... At least if I purchase them I can resell them...

So far downloaded Capcom vs Marvel and installed little big planet.

The Amazon bundle deal seems to be over.

Yeah, Amazon have dropped the WiFi model to £197, which is a good price by itself, but now that only gets you an 8GB card for £20 and a £15 copy of Lumines or Rayman. Works out about £10 more expensive than the pre-order deal.

^
Yup. Glad i got in just before the window close. WiFi Vita + 8GB Card + FIFA Football for £225. Also just despatched. Can't wait.

^ Fifa is excellent and impressive on the device, just a shame I'm terrible at it. Was playing Ireland v England in a quick match exhibition and lost 12-0. Also I keep accidentally tapping the back screen when I have possession which automatically makes whichever player your controlling shoot for the goal. :)

^
Haha. Practice i guess. Tricky controls initially especially since EA constantly tweaks them with each revision. I'm terrible with the 360 version and blast over countless times.

I've been having NP-2244-2 errors when trying to buy games, bit of a let down. Had to order PSN cards just to download games!

I freaking love this machine! Shame Sony's support is so awful.

They still haven't replied to me asking for a refund for items i purchased and can't download, they auto replied I'd get a response in 24 hours. That was 36 hours ago.

I'm mostly shocked that (in my case) I currently can't buy anything from PSN, on any machine. It was working one day and not the next. I did everything I could to get it working again before contacting Sony.

Those crazy people think I should ring them on a premium number (last time I was on hold for 25 minutes). When I can't spend money on their service they should be jumping through hoops for me.

If they want you to call, tell them to phone you. They have to provide that level of support.

I had an issue like that which went on for about a month where I simply could not buy anything it kept giving me the error code when I went to add funds from my CC. I rang my CC company who said there was no problem, so I rang Sony and they said it would take 36 hours to flush out their system before it should work, but it still wasn't working. Four weeks it took in total to come right and about 8 calls to Sony which were all long winded international premium rate calls so it cost a fortune.

It eventually worked, but they were useless over the period it wasn't and I grew increasingly frustrated with them. All they suggested was to use San cards. I tried to explain I'm in rural county Kerry where do they expect e to find pSN cards? Nightmare....

Yes their customer service is abysmal.

I have a PSP GO to trade in and Amazon in the UK will only give me £12 for it, I think that says a lot about how badly sony failed with the PSP GO.

Even if someone would give me 40-50 for it I would get a vita but as it stands I can't really afford one sadly.

Hey mate! I found this info from someone else having the same problem as you:

i phoned tech support because i was suffering from the same problems basically its an error On there part, basically you go to purchase a game and the server trys buying it twice the psn network then places a ban on that transaction and your account for 7 days, basicaly if you try purchaseing again tonight the 7 days will reset. you can still use psn cards to top up and buy games with but wait out the 7 days with your debit/credit cards.

Hope it is of some help, if its any consolation there are a good few other people having the same problem.

Why they can't just sort it out their end when you ring them though. They told me 36 hours rather than 7 days, thats probably why it dragged on for a month for me as I was trying every 3-4 days to see if it was working, and i must have been resetting it over and over again. But again, why Sony couldn't say that when I rang them multiple times ?

Thanks! I'll give that a try. I tried to buy something again last night so I guess I've got some time to wait :(.

PSN cards are cheaper anyways. Paid £32 for £35's worth AND got a new Bluray case to put my filthy second hand games in.

--------
Played Katamari last night. First time I've been exposed to the series. This is glorious.
Everybody's Golf is okay too. The low resolution is horrible though! This could have been beautiful as well as addictive.
My 8gb card is almost full though and transferring games to/from the PS3 is a very slow experience.

My wife and I love Katamari on PS3/2!

I think I am going to get a Vita next week but I need to wait until I sell my PSP GO since nowhere offers any trade in value for it.

Unit 13 is out next week and looks great, other things I may pick up once the price drops.

at shopto.net you can get a £25 PSN card for £22.85 or a £35 for £32.85

That's exactly what I did! Shopto are a great site, although I bought them thinking the codes were delivered by email, derp.

Speaking of, they just phoned me back and said I should wait 3 days. Exactly what you said! So hopefully this is will fix it :).
