My vita comes in today with a free 4gb memory card. I was wondering if you can use multiple memory cards with one vita and one psn account? So when the 4gb fills up I can go get another card and just swap them out to use whatever is on each card.

No you can't.
Basically, you can use the 4GB card until you decide you want a new one. Then you need to copy the data off the 4GB on to a PS3 or computer, then fit the new larger card and copy it back on. Unlike the last PSP you can't just hop memory cards around freely.

It's pretty annoying, but I think it's DRM related.

Pardon? You certainly can swap memory cards, but it doesn't work the same as a PSP. You have to turn off the device, remove the card, insert the new card (You may have to rebuild the database). All your bubbles will return to default positions but Live Areas and wallpaper etc will be unaffected.

The memory card is tied to that account/vita, similar to how HDD is tied to the PS3/Account, that is the DRM part of it.

You can swap memory cards on the same Vita/Account, but not from one Vita to another. Hopefully that clears up any mis-given information.

Say I wanted to upgrade the vita in a year or so if sony released a thinner model or new color, I would have to get new memory cards as well?

The memory card system def isn't as easy as it was on the PSP.

You could use the same memory card but you wouldn't be able to use it in that system until it formatted it. It's similar to the PS3 HDD if you have one, you can't swap from one PS3 to another as it will force a format.

So in short yes, you can use it. I haven't tried restoring a backup to another Vita but if its anything like the PS3 its not possible.

Because I would hate to lose my data on my memory cards if I wanted to upgrade to another vita down the road.

I'm sure if/when they introduce new hardware they will have some way to migrate data, they did the migration tool for the PS3.

So how is everyone finding their Vita's a week on from launch? My experience has been very bad, and also very good. The thing looks beautiful, I really love the design and could look at it all day long (much like I feel about my Apple products). The games I have been playing (Uncharted, Wipeout, Fifa, Hustle Kings, Top Down Darts, and the included AR games) have been great. Especially loved Uncharted, go pick it up!!
HOWEVER, I have been utterly disappointed with the screen, I love Playstation, so the last thing I want to do is bash the console, and I am not bashing it, I love it. But I had to go through 3 Vita's before I had one which was ok (only OK, nothing more). My first Vita's screen wasn't calibrated correctly, and the second one had horrible grain all the way across the screen. My 3rd one also has grain but not as bad as the last, so I have settled :(. It's a disgrace.
I have never had to do this with an Apple product, and I can't believe Sony went through with these screens, the problem is extremely widespread apparently. Anyway, I am picking up Unit 13 next week, and I am considering Shinobido 2, anyone played it yet?
How have your Vita's been thus far?

I have yet to hear anything but praises for the screen, short of a few people whining about issues that affect every OLED display. My screen is vibrant and better than any portable display I've seen.

Not doubting you, well maybe doubting your eyesight a bit :p

My Vita screen seems fine (apart from the OLED blotching, blergh). Tried playing mine on the train today and it unusable in sunlight. iPhone, iPad and 3DS were fine, so I imagine it's a problem with OLED?

I love mine. They really hit the ground running with some great launch titles.

I just wish they had internal storage, SD cards (these Vita ones are very slow). Right now I've stopped buying games because of a problem on their store page and because I've got no room left to store them.

Fair enough, like I said, I love mine, but this is my first experience with an OLED scree, yes it is vibrant and produces some really nice colours. But the streaking is horrible.

The launch titles seem to be very bright, I do worry when we get some survival horror games and those streaks really start to show :(.

I don't know if they could manage to put better screens in at some point along the way, but if they do, I will trade my Vita in and buy a new one asap.
I suppose you are right about the launch titles being quite bright. But the grain really shows up in Fifa is you haven't played that.
It has taken the shine of the whole launch for me because I have been looking forward to it since it was announced.

Anyway, some more positive news is that Sony are holding a press conference on the 9th and are apparently going to outline some new games and future services for the Vita, quite excited for this. I am praying for a Gran Turismo game, or GTA - either would be awesome.

Gran Turismo Vita, coming 2016 .

I would absolutely love some ports on this thing. I'd buy Skyrim, Oblivion, GTA4, San Andreas, Dark Souls, Monster Hunter. Hell I'd even be tempted to pick up a Call of Duty game.
New games in those series would be good too but I'd be happy with ports this early in a consoles life.

LBP Vita will own my life. I hope they detail that in the conference.

I'm curious as to whether you guys own a Console like PS3/Xbox already, and what factor made you guys jump on the PSVita?

I guess I'm having trouble justifying buying a PSVita... It looks great and so do the specs; but I'm not loving the lineup of games so far :/

I own everything ;) in fact nearly all of us here in this section who have bought the vita likewise own PS3's, Wii's, Xbox 360's, iPad's, iPhones and 3DS's... Yes I mean all of those systems each.

We're gamers regardless of platform here and hence we often get irked when / if there are any format manufacturer flame wars in the forum section, because most of us game on pretty much all the formats that stuff has no relevance to us.

We bought Vita's because they are the new game platform with decent hardware and robust launch line up. Most of us are just creaming our noodle waiting for gravity rush :) and the potential the Vita has for portable gaming.

I'm not so much looking forward to the ports, as much as what games designed especially for the platform will be like. We know a COD is coming, but I'm not the biggest fan of the series (in fact my interest in the FPS's genre seems to wain day by day) but it will be interesting to see what Vita brings to it in comparison to its console brethren. Likewise Bioshock's Vita original title sounds promising and will be worth looking at.

I'm looking forward to E3 because now we have the launch titles, and other than COD & BioShock I'm not aware of other new Vita games in development, and it would be nice to know the wave of titles at launch is not going to lead to a 6 - 8 month slow patch where only a few more titles are released, before an onslaught in Fall.

That sounds about right, if not a little early :D

I have a PS3, and switching files between vita and ps3 is so simple, I download all vita games onto the ps3 first, its a lot quicker

My screen is also grainy. My eyes go funny after playing for hours. Anyone know if the screen Sony uses is theirs or a Samsung unit. Maybe they need to license SAMOLED.

I need one for work. But also it's just a neat little thing, more problems than the 3DS but also the most potential of any handheld I've owned.

And like MacRumorUser I like to own all the consoles.

If there is a Monster Hunter or Demons\Dark Souls game I will buy one instantly whether I can afford it or not.

I do want a Vita but I must pay my wifes University fees this month so looks like I am waiting another couple of months.

Just got my Vita yesterday, along with FIFA :D
Uncharted is coming on Saturday, but I've downloaded a couple of demos.

Gonna be a great weekend!
