Sometimes I wonder if people suggesting we are crazy for wanting to hide it when "you can just create a folder and dump the unwanted apps in there".

Yes, there are workarounds. But what people are saying is they want the ability to delete it. They bought a 16 phone... they don't want potentially hundreds of megabytes being devoted to what they consider useless apps. If for some reason they are so intertwined into iOS that it would cause problems to delete them, then at least give us the option to hide them... and not just by creating a folder, or moving them to a page deep in the OS.

I use both android and iOS.

I have an xperia z1 mounted in my car for multimedia and sat nav. It's not bloated. You can remove any app you like using 'system app remover'. We also don't have carrier branding in the UK anymore or if we do then it is very minimal. I haven't seen a carrier branded phone since around 2006.

Mainly because we complained about it. Perhaps if you had taken the initiative to do the same you wouldn't have it either.

Similarly I am complaining because I would like choice on what is installed on my iOS device. This is not a bad thing so stop being an apple zombie!

Apple zombie? The stuff that comes out in these threads.

My time is more valuable than complaining to apple about removing what YOU consider "bloatware". I said in another thread the phone app can be considered to some to be bloat. I don't consider the definition of bloatware to be apps you don't want. To me bloatware would be apps not installed by apple installed by the carrier that I couldn't remove.

To each their own.

Have fun! Maybe IOS 11 will have the ability to pick and chose those apps than can be removed.

Thanks but no thanks. I'd rather not have my phone monitoring me. Unfortunately, there is no way to disable this intrusion. the Health app started tracking my steps the minute it was unboxed. Not good. Don't like. Make it go away.

Why is it when Apple comes up with something that is potentially useful (like Health app), they FORCE you to have it? Podcasts? Never listened to one. iBooks? I have my library on Kindle thank you. Tips? Really?

Get the crap off my phone. I don't want it there. It takes up space.

But you CANT turn off some of these. Where do you kill off the Health app from monitoring your movements? It isn't under Location Services. It isn't under Privacy. Where is it? How do I make this app do nothing?

OT: If you had a 5s your phone has been tracking your steps since the day you bought it, even in iOS 7. iOS 8 just makes it visible in the health app. It's just a number of steps, how is "45 steps" going to hurt you? That's why it can't be turned off. Some people make such a non issue out of things, especially when it comes to privacy. I understand wanting to not be tracked, but a pedometer is NOT an invasion on privacy....

As for the built in apps, I do not understand why Apple have built even more apps into iOS with iOS 8, at this point we need to option to hide them. The main disadvantage in my eyes is now Podcasts and iBooks have to be updated via iOS updates instead of the App Store, what a mess

Just a thought! I know many Apple people love their apple products as they come from the store, yet for everyone including those that would like a better choice wouldn't it be great if at least one of those super high payed people who come up with these operating systems create a window at initial setup that would let "US" who own the devise a chance to include or delete a given set of apps. Lets say Apple throws in an app that otherwise was a pay app over on the app store and you think I don't want it. Your given the chance to delete it. BUt once you did so then if you want to for what ever reason get it back you will have to do like everyone else that wants it you will have to buy it. Seems pretty fair to me.
Oh well I guess being bored on a Thursday morning makes some of us think of all sorts of things ;)

I suggest Apple add the option to the stocks app like they do with the Nike + app. Allow it to be hidden from view. I don't care if you must have it installed, just let me have the option to hide it from view...

Just give us an options in the app settings...

That does seem like an unfortunate oversight. I don't see any way to disable it, it's not even listed in settings. It doesn't send any notifications or anything, though, so if you never open it it's kind of like it doesn't exist.
