THOSE CALL SCREENS ARE FUGLY AS ALL HELL! WTF Apple?!?!

iOS 7.0.6 is beautiful and intuitive. 7.1 (at least the call screens) are the exact opposite! Apple better fix this.

A bunch of text is more intuitive than pretty clear icons with some text? Seriously?

I find it hideous. Good thing I'm on jailbroken b2 that doesn't have this.

Fair enough, I thought these were concepts, however, if these have been in an iOS 7.1 beta, I'm fairly confident they are not in the newer betas. When did you have the beta installed+

They're from iOS 7.1. It's still in beta. The current released version is iOS 7.0.6.

The beta is released to developers first, those are pictures of a future version of iOS releasing later this month that developers already have.

Those pictures are from the latest beta, please do not say something that isn't true. ;)

Of all the things that Apple needed to fix, the Phone app was not one of them. The only thing they needed to fix was putting the "add to contacts" and "delete" keys next to the call button on the bottom (as it was in iOS 1-6). Everything else about the app was perfectly fine. Also we should not have to unlock our phones to decline a call, we had that feature in iOS 6, that needs to be brought back.

The new tiny and circular Answer/Call and Decline/End buttons in 7.1 waste so much screen space and the contact photo has been reduced to a tiny thumbnail. I thought iOS 7 was supposed to be about prioritizing the content.

I've been complaining about all this on Apple's iPhone feedback page and hopefully they will listen.

They darkened the iMessage, Phone and FaceTime icons which was good and tweaked the keyboard so that looks improved. They fixed something that wasn't broken while a lot of other parts of the OS are.

Also, if they're testing out the UI on the iWatch, do it on there because I'm using my iPhone and all iOS 7 has been so far is a public beta. Nothing feels finished anymore...

You can still decline a call from the lock screen by pressing the sleep button twice.

When I'm on a current call, I still can't figure out how to message a person in iOS 7.0. The 7.1 screens don't make this any clearer. The one on the right has a message icon, but the one for in a call, where is it?

One of my messages says: "I'm on a call right now. I'll call you when I'm finished." When on iOS 6, it was clear how to send a message.

Exactly!!! Let's report this. U guys r not alone. I've in this for a while. Lol

I eat my words sir. I was wrong, and I have been put to place. I was on the first 7.1 Beta and I'm pretty sure it didn't look like that, and I had seen screenshots from later betas that I didn't notice much change in, but I do apologies for speaking lies.

I have a bad feeling that since iOS in the car call screen use same small round fugly buttons, that we have to get use to it on iPhone too. At least get rid of that new slider. Please!!!

...End Call + Answer? Isn't that an oxymoron? Someone please explain what that button does...

Yes. It currently operates more like the old iOS without all the skeuomorphism. IMO, this brings back the some skeuomorphism Apple was trying to kill in iOS 7.

Right now, its pretty damn simple. When locked, the "Swipe to Answer" bar is at the bottom, in green. Or, if you choose to, you can send a message or remind me. Just text? Yes. Simple? YES! Now its all goofed up. They went from rounded rectangles to elongated ovals. Text to what looks like a physical switch that you need to push over to answer (iPhone OS/iOS 1-6 like, don't you think?).

And the new call waiting screen, well, that just speaks for itself.

lol i dont even understand whats going on in the 2nd picture. how do you click on the overlapping icon.

i also dont understand why anything has to be overlapped with so much wasted space in the center
How? you touch right in the center of it, or roughly, like you would any other icon.

Overlapping conveys the combined functionality of the button.

End & Accept. It ends the current call, and accepts the new call.

or on the right side.

It puts your current call on hold, and accepts the new call.

Most people can understand such icons without paragraphs of explanation. Also would be very messy to write out sentence style, the caption under the buttons.

Overlapping icons are confusing
Overlapping icons do great at reusing recognized icons, combining, to convey a combined action.

Oh, in that case the new design was added in iOS 7.1 Beta 3 in January. :)

I actually like the new design. I went back to iOS 7.0.x from 7.1 beta because I upgraded my iPad and don't want to waste another UDID slot on my employer's account, and the old style looks jarring and out of place! The new style fits in a lot better with the aesthetics of iOS 7.

Good job Apple!

Awful, awful... just awful. What were they thinking when they came up with the UI in 7.1? Everything is great about the call screen in 7.0. There was no reason to change any of these screens! This is laughably bad design!

I hope they revert back to the way it is in 7.0. (wishful thinking)

Lets compare apples to apples so to say, the call waiting screen is full of a bunch of text and nothing more, having icons actually improves it as far as making it nicer and even simpler to recognize what's where without actively needing to read.

The other screens might have an argument as what's better or not, but the call waiting one seems to be more usability friendly this way after the first time that you take a moment to look at it.

Truthfully I kind of feel the same way having gone back to 7.0. The only main thing I wish they'd improve with this new design is being able to do full screen contact pictures.

This is what the call screen actually looks like... The call screen above is for when you get another call after already being in one.

Actually, that screen looks really nice. That I don't mind.

Maybe the others will grow on me. Time will tell. I really need to use it before I judge.
