Please stop calling it "The New iPad"

Goodness, who cares? Call it whatever you want.

It is an electronic gadget. It is an inanimate object. We're not talking about a Supreme Court justice or the Queen of England. There is no legitimate faux pas associated with referring to an Apple produce with the non-preferred nomenclature. (Asian-American, please.)
 
The new ipad is too generic in my opinion and will only confuse consumers, So next year when a new one comes out are we supposed to call it the old ipad? They should just stick to the numbers or use years instead.

Its just as silly as when people were calling it the nano chromatic for the 4th gen nano.

Well, they didn't have numbers for different generations of Macs (recently) and Macbooks.

I like it that way. More iconic.

They should ditch the Air & Pro moniker and call all of their laptops MacBook. You just choose the size you want. The larger sizes having more doodads.
 
Sorry but are people's lives that pathetic that it really matters? Nothing better to do with their time than think about what people call the new iPad? Wow..... just wow.

Do I think about it constantly? No, but it is a pet peeve. Why does that bother you?

Wait, are people really calling the new iPad, 'The New iPad', as in, 'have you seen my The New iPad'? Since it's simply called 'iPad' now, it's just the new (as in latest) iPad.

Just like when a new MacBook Air comes out it will be the new 13" (or whatever size) MacBook Air. What's so difficult?

When comparing current models with previous generations, just say 3rd gen iPad, just like you would with other Mac products (mid year 2010 MBP, etc).

Yeah, and? Pointing out how stupid some things can be is fun for me.
Break it down with me. Is this REALLY something that matters? I mean really? Right up there with a US soldier going on a rampage and offing 16 people mostly kids. Right up there with starving people, Parents in India pimping out their kids for money, poor labor conditions at Foxconn (oh yeah, that guy made that up). If I want to call it The New iPad, or iPad hd, or iPad 3 or super duper iPad coolness why does it matter? Do you know what I'm talking about? That's my point.

I say get a life if what people call The New iPad bothers you.

It's not named "the new iPad", and yes this is annoying the heck out of me. That's why Apple has the iPad bolded, it's just called iPad, just like they do with the iMac, MacBook Pro and other Mac products. It's the third generation iPad (which Apple uses to identify it in several places), or "iPad 3".

Just like when I shower, I can wash whatever parts I want, however often I want!

Seriously, why do people give a poop? Do you really have nothing else in your life that you can focus on? If this is the case consider yourself blessed, but did you really have to put in a thread about it???
 
I also think that 'iPad 3' for short (instead of saying '3rd generation iPad) is a perfectly acceptable unofficial name when a quick adjective is needed. :p

Why? Because it's unclear. And next year... everyone will realise that. Everyone knows there's a new iPad out, and iPad 3 is shorter and precise.
 
I just call it iPad. But if I need to be clear when describing it I will call it an iPad 3. Simple and clear.

I had a dream last night that Tim Cook called everyone in for a follow-up keynote and he was like "Guys, it's not called the iPad 3. It's called The New iPad, okay?" and then everyone told him to get a ****ing life.
 
Seems pretty simple to me:

It's the iPad. The 3rd generation one. Right now it's the new one. Next year it will continue to be the 3rd gen iPad.
