Well, I finally saw episode 5. Wow. I mean, I already imagined what was below the plastics before she saw it, and it doesn’t surprise me honestly. If I were this human colony, I think I would do the same. Harvest all the resources.

I also want to confess that I haven’t laughed so loudly watching a movie or an episode in several years. My God, that scene with the drone really killed me.

Still, it’s been fun following the discussion here. If anyone wants my full thoughts, you can check my bio — I’ve been updating it as I watch more episodes.
I prefer to follow the discussion here.

Did anyone else feel like this week’s episode has been a filler one?
Really? Seems like we got a huge reveal, saw the life of one of the B characters and a big change for another B character. Carol didn't do a huge amount its true.

Well, I felt like the episode was shorter or happened less things in it. Sure, the harem this B character has is funny to watch, the stem cells piece of info is also interesting, and the Paraguayan guy part with that strange radio signal is also quite intriguing. And every time I hear that voice mail recording from them asking Carol space is hilarious.

However… that’s the only thing that happened: B character with the harem, a couple of small revelations, Paraguayan guy viewing the video and taking his car to visit Carol. Well, maybe I’m starting to miss Zosia.

Anyway, the duet of Carol and Paraguayan guy is going to be an interesting one.

Really looking forward to the next Friday!

PS: by the way, don’t you think being able to travel around with -practically- unlimited supply of gasoline and all the streets and malls empty of people would be amazing? Wow, it would be paradise for me.

Saw episode 6. Was a good one. We are more than half way into the season. Waiting to see how the season will end!!

Hopefully not in a big cliffhanger, although that’s what I’m afraid of…

However, waiting until the end of a show is too tiresome. Now after many years I’ll be able to start binge watching Stranger Things from the beginning until the end. But honestly, that’s not too practical…

A cliffhanger ending is highly probable and it looks very possible that the next season will be more than 12 to 15 months away, putting it in 2027. With Severance expected to air in mid 2027, Pluribus might be even further delayed. Very unlikely that Apple's top two shows air simultaneously. Don't like the extended delays.

But this time with Severance season 2 finale, I feel like it didn’t hurt that much.

[Severance SPOILERS ahead]

[you’re warned]

Yeah, Severance season 2 also ends with a cliffhanger, but it’s not a brutally uncertain and climatic cliffhanger like the season 1 finale. This time, by the end of the season, you feel like many things have clicked: the love between the protagonists, the will to solve the mystery, the resolution at “**** the company”… yeah, we don’t know what Mark’s wife outie will do, and that will be an interesting point of view to explore in season three. We also don’t know what the relationship between Mark’s innie and outie will be, or how will the love triangle evolve… but those are minor expectations when compared to what happens in season 1 finale, which is a complete coitus interruptus something that shouldn’t be done at a season’s ending in my opinion.

[End of Severance SPOILERS]

However, due to the weird nature of the show, I’m afraid the first season will end in a shocking way, with more questions than answers. Maybe with the “cure”? I don’t think that in the 3 or 4 remaining episodes we’ll be able to witness all of that. Especially if one or two more episodes are fillers where little happens.

There are other mysteries that I think will remain unsolved: the mystery frequency the Paraguay guy finds and marks with a question mark, for example. Or the true purpose of the world-population organism.

I think the remaining episodes will focus mainly on: Carol meeting the Paraguayan guy, the organism resuming the contact with Carol, and maybe some initial clues of the “cure”. And not much more.

Episode 8 is titled Charm Offensive and Episode 9 is in Spanish but its literal translation is "The Girl or The World," so Carol will have to make a choice. So the finale might not be meeting Manousos, that might happen in episode 8, but a confrontation with Manousos.

That being said, Episode 7 felt like it could have been 10 minutes long IMHO. Gilligan seems to love these long-winded shots, but I personally only need one scene of Carol doing the mundane things as a form of copoum. Or Manousos being stubborn for 20 minutes. The payoff was great but the first 40 minutes felt a little redundant to me.

The latest episode, episode 7 feels a lot slower than rest of the episodes in the season. But it was still interesting to watch. With only two episodes left in the season, waiting eagerly to see what happens!!

Even slower than Ep. 6? Damn… I’ll watch it today but I hate it when this happens…

Definitely this felt like it could have been much shorter. Did not add much to the story. But was still nice to watch.

I hate those filler episodes, seriously. Season 2 of Silo also felt like it could have been much shorter as well. There are many examples…

But I’m not going to complain before watching it.

Yes. Still a good watch. Please do see and share your opinion.

Before I watch yesterday’s episode, there’s something itching me from past week’s episode:

Paraguayan guy is screening all the known radio frequencies, right? Not sure if it’s AM or FM. But there’s one, the only one where something is actually heard, that is emitting a mysterious noise pattern.

I have two theories about this sound:

1) The obvious one, the signal being heard is the signal that individual scientists listened to and led them to create the RNA virus/viroid.

2) Maybe this sound pattern has the potential to, if amplified enough, separate some individuals from the collective organism (we’ll have to think of a name for this world wide organism).

IIRC the signal being heard is 8.613mhz, a maritime radio frequency. Manousos would need somewhat of a huge high powered antenna to be able to listen in. Here in the US would you be inundated with permits after permits as well as complaint from your neighbors with a similar set up. It also looked like Manousos' father was in the military or had a military background. There's more to him that meets the eye.

The signal if the 8.613mhz is accurate it is also terrestrial and wouldn't be able to escape the ionosphere. It might be piggybacking the signal from space, but the one discovered by Manousos is likely manmade.

Good! Thanks for the information! The signal being terrestrial makes sense, and it opens interesting doors for the long term plot.

I’m going to watch the new episode, see ya!

I enjoyed this seventh episode more than past week’s episode, despite not happening too much in it. Why? I guess it’s more emotional. Manousos part has a lot of strength, while the last minutes with Carol are very emotional.

The final moments are conveying the deep loneliness and grief and guilt Carol is dealing with.

Looking forward to next Friday!!

It also shows how empty it ultimately is when you can do whatever you want without any real limits. Its probably why billionaires usually become nuts.

Manousos journey is impressive. Waiting for the moment he gets to meet Carol. Should know soon. Waiting for the next episode!

Yeah, it’s impressive, the way it is shown. However, I would have preferred him to be able to finish the journey by his own.

Without spoilers: Episode 8 is a doozy. Also episode 9 seems to feature an iPhone of some sort, Carol possibly giving Manousos an iPhone(maybe it was Helen's) to communicate? Or she's using the real time translation function to speak to Manousos. I wonder if cell towers and the internet still works or are they just doing that for the unjoined.

The bit from Manousos seemed a bit rushed. I’d have preferred to have more minutes of him rather than Carol chatting with the pirate girl. And they go and cut the most interesting part.

But yeah, pretty excited to watch the season finale. Hopefully it will be a bit longer.
