Carol seemed to be listening to the radio when she was doing the washing up, though the Others probably put it on especially for her!
Episode 8 was great.
Episode 8 was great.
I personally don't think so, there was a ton of exposition from how the hive communicates, where they sleep or what happens to family pets. There's also a lot of framed shot which tells a lot about what each character were thinking. This weekend episode was way slower than last week but still enjoyable. With the season finale next week(airing on Christmas eve), many things are left unanswered. Hopefully it will be a good one. Looking forward to seeing it.
The family dynamic they had was kinda disturbing to me, and I hope Carol isn't brainwashed into thinking these creatures care about her crappy romance novels. That being said, the virus itself probably has no malice, the civilization that created it probably figured this was the most humane way to eradicate competing species while preserving the planet's resources.Carol seemed to be listening to the radio when she was doing the washing up, though the Others probably put it on especially for her!

She found out a vital piece of info, the Others communicate sub-consciously by some sort of bio-electrical method. Maybe when Manusos tells her about the strange radio transmission they'll put 2+2 together. The family dynamic they had was kinda disturbing to me, and I hope Carol isn't brainwashed into thinking these creatures care about her crappy romance novels. Also, based on episode 4 I think I might have an idea of what happens if the signal gets interrupted even temporarily, cardiac arrest. So in the season's finale Carol and Manousos might be stuck with a dilemma. And the solution might be something only Carol can do.She found out a vital piece of info, the Others communicate sub-consciously by some sort of bio-electrical method. Maybe they are bored because they cannot create themselves?I initially though that the hive is happy that Carol is writing again because it would distract her from what they're doing, but maybe Carol's sappy romance novels might trigger something in them.
Vince did say he wants people to have different interpretations of each scene which is why in some scenes the pacing was slow/drawn out with very little dialogue. What I am getting from the massage scene is the hive shares information but does not share sensation, I don't know if they share emotions/feelings or not. Carol's books might invoke something in a part of the hive while invoking a different sensation in another. This might cause them to go back to their share knowledge, and they might begin to diverge on their views.Maybe they are bored because they cannot create themselves?
What twist are you referring to?The last 3 episode was pretty meh for me, and the 'twist' wasn't much of a twist since everyone saw it coming a mile away. I freaking love Manousos though, and it feels like he has a bit of a crush on Carol. I hope this develops further.
What twist are you referring to?
Ah ok, just that i haven't seen many people talking about that lol. That they've been manipulating her all along and now has the means to turn her using her eggs. It's not much of a twist because they beat us over the head with it during the Ice Hotel episode.
Ohh I think you're better off not discussing this show online because I think to the people who watched it and not talk much about it, it is a twist. But for others who overanalyze and talk about it online it wasn't much of a twist.Ah ok, just that i haven't seen many people talking about that lol.

Yeah, I agree.I'd rather have a "twist" like that which has been set up in advance than the typical Deus ex Machina that tends to happen in SciFi.
I think there's more to him that meets the eye.Well well well… I’ve already watched the final episode.
I expected a bit more action on this final episode, and even though everything turned out kinda like what I expected towards the end of the episode, for a moment I feared that Carol had changed her mind.
But what I see here is the reflection of human selfishness. Same selfishness we saw at the beginning of the season with Koumba. The moment Carol knows she’s safe and not required to join, she starts embracing a similarly hedonistic life, with Zosia. Then, the moment she knows that she can be converted, she changes her mind. I guess I’m not the only one who saw this.
And Manousos seems to be the only one caring about saving the world.
Why shouldn't she? The situation isn't of her making, a dozen (and falling) people aren't going to make a dent in the world's resources or significantly advance the food crisis and her alternative choice is to go mad from loneliness. Her "hedonism" is fairly restrained compared to Koumba's ego trip, and she's at least going through the motions of forming a loving relationship with Zosia, again compared to Koumba's... relationships. The moment Carol knows she’s safe and not required to join, she starts embracing a similarly hedonistic life, with Zosia.
Well, being involuntarily converted would be a pretty appalling violation of her trust, so I'm not sure how that is unreasonable. True - she should have seen it coming, the Others have always been completely upfront about having a biological imperative to convert everybody. Then, the moment she knows that she can be converted, she changes her mind.
...or, just as likely, kill everybody in the attempt. Even if he is "successful" the transition is going to leave the world in chaos & cause many fatalities - esp. if the newly returned object to living off "soylent green" for several months... He's deluded if he thinks everybody is just going to stroll back to their homes & businesses and chase up his IOUs. His morals are so inflexible that he will pursue them without thinking of the consequences - his own kind of "selfishness".And Manousos seems to be the only one caring about saving the world.
Yeah, it’s actually difficult to cheer for one position or character. And while it may seem I criticized Koumba, actually it would be a bit hypocritical on my behalf, as I would act similarly, materializing many fantasies of mine. That's the fun thing about the show, not really knowing who to cheer for
Sure, he seems to have some military background or training. He’s not trusting anyone. And has good survival skills. And a strong personality. I like him. Manousos Oviedo, who’s not one of them, and wants to save the world.I think there's more to him that meets the eye.
Dude is already cooking up a plan to mass disrupt/jam the signal. He's MacGyvering everything and can navigate the Darien gap without the use of a GPS. Sure, he works at a self-storage but we don't really know what he was doing before. We see that his father was military, but I think he might have been as well. Maybe a Columbia military police that had to leave to get away from the cartel.
And the phone translating every word hahaha… I laughed a lot on that scene, but I think I laughed more on the drone scene. This show has a rare humor that I love.I loved it when Manousos was trying to get Carol's phone back from the drain and he was muttering about coming 7000 km for this.![]()
