i like it a lot. my 6s plus feels clumsy!
video will take a little getting used to but app optimization/lack may be part of it.
screen brightness adjustment for some video seems good idea.

After playing around with the X all afternoon and evening, I honestly don't even miss my 6 Plus. The phone is smaller but the actual screen is longer and a bit narrower. I think many who complain about it being too small fall victim to an illusion. Would I prefer an X Plus? Maybe. But going from a Plus to an X has been fine.

I wouldn't be surprised if, for some, it's the tiny bit of width that's making a difference (typing, for example). That and for people who have larger hands, they probably won't notice the 'benefit' of a smaller phone as much as those of us with small hands.

Of all the features, the iPhone X form factor is key to me. Everything else is great, but comfortability is crucial in so many ways.

If it helps I don't think the screen feels smaller. The physical phone does, in your hand.

The issue with this phone is the gestures. They aren't good and often fail because they have such a narrow space for accuracy and often times have no visual cue....

I went into AT&T and used the demo phone today. Coming from a 6S Plus, I was disappointed with the X. I didn’t feel like it was much of an upgrade, screen wise, or functionality wise. Yes, there’s the lack of the home button and Face ID, but I don’t need those day to day. It has me questioning my pre-order.

I will need to do some soul searching on whether I want it still, but the X isn’t the upgrade that I hoped that it would be. Probably for a non-Plus phone, it would feel like a more significant upgrade.

Phone is definitely smaller, and you can see that on apps that's not been updated yet for this screen. I'm just hoping Apple will make a XL or X Plus size next year.

Other than that, the new features and gestures on this phone is very easy to learn. Apple was right again, it was seamless!

Just started using my X this evening before going out for dinner. Coming from a Plus-sized iPhone for the last three years, all I can say is, "WOW!" This phone is the perfect size. I can actually barely notice that the screen is narrower. Still feels like a nice large screen, and the keyboard doesn't feel as small as the one on the 4.7" iPhones. Also a joy to use one-handed.

I'll get used to it. It feels a little bit more cramped but if the app supports the X and embraces the notch, then it's fine. If the app hasn't yet been updated and there are black bars to deal with, then it feels too small.

Within a few weeks that won't be as common, though.

I have had a plus since the iPhone 6+. Coming from a plus, I don't necessarily miss the width of the phone but I can certainly see how some might. The X is more narrow and coming from a plus you will DEFINITELY feel that. But it's like when the iPhone 5 came out, it seemed taller and it was weird at first. Over time it was the perfect size. That's how I feel about the X. It's the perfect size. It will take some getting used to, but it's a great pocket phone. I enjoy transporting it more than I do the plus. Yes, I'm a woman and I carry a purse but it's still better! Don't even get me started about women's suits and the pockets. Much easier to transport. Also, the screen is awesome.

The bigger question is does your phone feel like it was worth over a grand. I'm still contemplating that one.

Having somewhat larger thighs from playing football...it’s nice not having my pants feel tight with the Plus models. The X fits more seamlessly.

Definitely enjoying the smaller form factor. I don’t think the notch is very elegant and would have preferred a notch above the screen (the protrusion may have looked ugly but full screen videos with a notch have been annoying). But I knew this beforehand and accept it as a trade-off.

The smaller screen physical size compared to the Plus, meh. The one-handed typing is handy.

All in all, really enjoying the X coming from the Plus which now feels huge again.

I know its been only half a day with the X but so far my initial impression is its a step back coming from a plus user. Something about it just isn't clicking with me. I am not seeing the screen as that big of an upgrade over the plus and at the same time your sacrificing screen width. Although the screen width difference is small, it is definitely noticeable when your used to looking at the plus. I think if they brought a plus version of the X that would have been better suited for me. I might give it another day or so to see if I can adjust before returning the phone.
Compared my 8+ side by side today for almost an hour .. screens, video, photos, camera & agree on screen comment. I didn’t see major improvement with X.

I'm loving the transition from 6S+ to the X. The size and weight are down so I'll enjoy carrying my phone again. I was looking at getting a SE for some stupid reason. Glad my girlfriend convinced me otherwise, haha.

I’m most stunned with how quickly I forgot about the home button and adapted to sliding upwards to go home and multitask. Took me 5 mins and now I’m a pro. I need to reset my old iPhone 7+ tomorrow and it’ll be fun to see how that feels now. Probably like a dinosaur.

I preferred the screen on my 8+. Not the size, but the color. My x screen is a mixture of pee yellow and light brown. I have fiddled with all of the settings to get it as close to the color temp I like but it is not as vibrant or “clean” in the color gamut. I have never had a display I didn’t love in an iPhone, this is a first.

I also feel the screen looks tiny. I don't like how narrow it is and the notch just isn't doing it for me. Not a fan of gestures, but they are not a deal breaker.

I have both the 8 Plus and the X. The justification for the X was that I would give the 8 Plus to my wife or my daughter, but my wife says she doesn't like big phones and my 16 year old daughter isn't really ready for an 8 Plus. I am going to have to discus this with my wife. If neither of them are going to want it, I will have to make other arrangements.

Love the swiping! I thought I would miss the home button, nope!
Love the colors and brighter screen (mine is brighter than my 7 Plus)
Hate the smaller keyboard
Miss the larger Plus screen for sure, compare Facebook photos for example
Do not like how most apps are not optimized and feel so small in comparison to the Plus

CANNOT WAIT TO BUY THE PLUS X NEXT YEAR!

Loving this new style of iPhone, just want it bigger already.

If Apple were to come out with a beta in the next 13 days that supported horizontal viewing in notes/mail/messages/Safari/home screen I would 100% say I’m keeping it. But at the moment I find it too much of a step back over functionality of the Plus for $400 more and that’s pushing aside video/image cropping and smaller keyboard (I could live with those - just).

Face ID - camera - feel in the hand - display - sound - all huge positives over the 6S+.

I just did a comparison for a friend between the two devices and lack of those horizontal screen features (regular view) are just too much of a negative for my personal use/needs.

This is after 24 hours of having/using the X.

Give us a regular view option Apple!

Your 13 days came early. ;)
Horizontal view is available in notes, mail, messages and Safari. It's not available on the home screen though, as far as I know.

It was am adjustment at first. But 24 hours later I have adjusted.

But I like having a large device. I hope they come out with a plus model next year.

I can gripe about the color change at different angles too. Not a huge disappointment to me, but wow - big jump from yellow to blue when I move it up and down.

How people can like the True Tone too is beyond me. Mustard color whites? Turned that off asap.
