Now to those of you who've actually jailbroken an iphone before, what's the average amount of time it took you to do so?

I brought my laptop, chargers, and an open mind in case by some chance, "a few hours" DOES mean today -_-...

But I was curious if I actually needed 3-4 hours of inputting texts like I did with my Android rooting...

I've never sat and watched someone root an iphone before, and all of the youtube clips are just cluster****s

Umm, about 15minutes i'd say.. It's usually really easy to jailbreak.
I've been jailbreaking my devices since the iphone 3G came out.

So you really don't need that much time for it. What takes time is if to backup the phone, but that usually goes pretty smooth..

So I should technically just backup my phone right now then

Please post a link to where anyone 'promised' when the A5 jb would be available. You can't because there aren't any.

The developers are badgered by whiners and self entitled twits who want to know when the A5 jb will be available. They do their best, with the information they have at the time, to answer people. Then these same ungrateful people whine and complain even more when it's not available when they think it should be. This complaining is probably a big reason why some of the talented people have left the jb dev environment. Who needs this abuse? A: Nobody.

Ummmm... Have you not seen the tweets and other pieces of information on this thread? It's always the same false news stating it'll be a few days or few hours away. Why do you think so many people are refreshing this thread every 30 seconds? They wouldn't have to if the word on the web wasn't "a few days or a few hours left".

I'm with you that people should be happy we even have these dedicated folks working hard to JB our 4S. All I'm saying is there's a reason behind everything and the reason why some people are are being negative is because they were given broken promises. If it's not ready and you're NOT going to release it anytime soon (within the week) then don't mention it at all. Simple as that.

Lol okay I exaggerated a little bit haha. Rooting my HTC Thunderbotl took a little over an hour, hour and a half maybe. Mainly because I didnt want to wait on that one click root. But you know how ANDROID devices are.. soon as you think you have the newest and best phone.. BOOP... a new one comes out 90 days later.

i really don't get this, it really pisses me off now. Unless this guy who I've never heard of is just ********ting why would these devs make this big deal last night saying "HOURS AWAY" then only to say its days away. I will never donate again until there is a final product. I understand everything about them doing this for us and what not, but you don't taunt people. Its not right!

@0xOllie: @imrel0ad i think it is a matter of hours

One dev says one thing, and then another says something else....they should really get on the same page

Not to take sides, but I can see where barressi's frustration is coming from. Regardless of what has been said in the last day or so, it's been probably 3 weeks or more since pods original post saying it's only a week or so away. So if you haven't followed this thread from start to finish you might not know that.

More than anything, I could do without an ETA, just give us a goal of when you would like to try and finish it. But, again they aren't technically being paid to do this. Although those of you who actually believe they aren't, are being airflow niave. Comex, between JBme 2.0 and 3.0 has made something like $60,000. Keep in mind, these guys are likely doing this as a hobby. I personally would consider that lucky to make that much off of a hobby. In other words, something that you enjoy to do. I've made a few thousand dollars last year working for a local second hand cell shop, doing iPhone screen repairs/JB's/unlocks and enjoyed it. I never considered of work. Also, keep in mind that my example being Comex making 60 grand, that's more than some college educated people make in a year. I know that it takes a lot, a **** ton of practice, trial and error, and patience to do what these guys do. I commend them for that, and have a ton of respect. However, I would say(not out of spite or anger) at this point that making an entire new tool serves no purpose when we are this close to another iOS update that is known to break JB. To me, that is really just flash to pull in a larger amount of "donations"

On the brighter side of things, we WILL have a JB for the iPhone 4S at some point or another. It's just a matter
Of when.

Lastly, JBarressi19: looks like your going to lose our bet!! Woot!!

How do you figure I'm gonna lose? still need 300 posts before jailbreak, i doubt that will happen, i need to stop posting :) lol

Thank you for saying what you did, i thin people are misinterpreting what i am saying. I just feel that people who are not directly related to the jailbreak are giving ETA's when they shouldn't. Sure they can do what they want but i also have the right to feel how i want. I love what the devs do for us and i show that with donations. Sometimes large and sometimes small. Its whatever I can do. I just feel for the first time they have kinda toyed with us. Maybe not intentionally,, but whatever. We will have our jailbreak soon and all will be good in the world LOL :)

I will say that this is one of the more
Promising signs;-) in light of this soon to be JB'en iPhone 4S I have, I went out an dropped a whopping $20 on a speck candyshell case. Pretty impressed by the look.

Jbaressi19: lolololol the main reason I see this getting to 2,000 is bc of me, you, and about 2-3 other people who have posted non stop since we thought the JB was dropping "tonight" about 2 weeks ago;-).

Yes, I am serious. This thread is no different than similar threads that appear prior to every jb. In other words, it's filled with far too many people who feel entitled to a jb and think claiming there were broken promises will make it happen faster.

Nobody is claiming there are broken promises. People are just excited about a jailbreak for their phones. You sir are sooooo mad.

This thread has been cleaned up. Please keep the discussion on-topic. We understand that waiting is exciting but if you don't have anything relevant to say, then don't say anything. MacRumors is not a chat service. If all you want to do is chat, then please use other sites or services.

Please review the Forum Rules, especially the ones quoted below:

Useless and one-word posts. Do not bother making posts with only one or two words (e.g., "cool" or LOL) or a smilie, or post simply to have the first reply in a thread. Such posts waste everyone's time and will be deleted. Posts saying "I agree", "+1", "this", "me too", or the equivalent are also routinely removed, so don't post them. If you aren't interested in a thread, skip the thread; don't post to tell us you aren't interested. If you celebrate making the first post in a news thread, your post will be deleted.

Off-topic posts. Off-topic posts will be deleted/edited. If you keep doing it see "Repeated problems" below. Threads and posts on controversial political, religious, and social issues are to be limited to the Politics, Religion, Social Issues forum, and made only by those eligible for that forum

Chattiness. Use the forums to discuss the topic of the thread, not as a substitute for Instant Messaging.

Common sense. In the end, use common sense. When you are about to post messages just to increase your post count, or post something you think is funny at someone else's expense, think to yourself "Is this annoying?" If the answer is yes, don't do it.

besides that, the links on their website (about us, downloads and privacy policy) are not working atm. I believe they worked a few days ago.
