I would have voted to wait til iOS 6. However, reading some of the points people have made, to hell with it I say. Let's see some jailbreaks!

Update from pod2g "Hey. iPad 3,1 running iOS 5.1 untethered. Next on the list: stabilizing the payload, then trying 5.1.1."

Great news! My replaced 4S is on 5.0 and JB but I'm dying to upgrade it to 5.1.1 for bug fixes!

Well, traditionally speaking... the payload is the code itself which allows for the jailbreak. So, more or less, jailbreak result = payload.

My guess is that the code is sloppy, working, but not as precise or clean as he would want.

Pod2g seems a very good coder, and with that, I don't doubt he has a great deal of pride in his finished product.

Me too, but this latest news has me >< this close to updating to 5.1.1 and then waiting it out. Doesn't appear that it will be much longer. Sure... famous last words. Better wait lol.

Thanks for explaining. Is the JB process hard to do? I am nervous my phone will act weird (Sluggish, restart randomly etc) If problems happen is it fixable?

Not hard at all. If you don't like it you can always restore. Most things that go wrong are fixable you just have to be careful when it comes to installing stuff and don't mess with the file system if you don't know what you're doing.

LOL I feel your pain brotha!!! :D

I'm thinking of just upgrading... The JB apps I'm using aren't necessary but are great to have, but I can live without them for a few weeks........ not months I hope haha

There has never been a jailbreak for the iPad 3 therefore waiting for iOS 6 (public release in the Fall with a beta release in June) is simply stupid. It is only worth it to wait if there is a minor update (5.0.1 or 5.1)that is coming out soon. With the case of 5.1, it was right for the A5 jailbreak to be released since iOS 5.1 was not released until March.

Seriously, it's going to be many months before iOS6 hit's the streets. There's no reason to wait. As always, the next iOS will break any JB, so we stay on the previous OS for a bit or move up. I don't see any downside to releasing now.

Sweet! Only a few weeks away now according to Pod2g.

Which ironically coincides with WWDC and iOS 6 beta release.

Update from pod2g "If it works on iPad 3 and iPhone 4, I can say it'll work on any device. The ATV3 may be out tho… :/"

No offense, but does that actually upset people? I can't imagine how many people actually look forward to jailbreaking their ATV.

I don't own one myself so I wouldn't know. But I agree, I probably wouldn't be as excited as I would be waiting for a jailbreak for my iPhone.

ETA for 5.1 jailbreak: look at my previous tweets. Some weeks away to have a nice, user friendly tool. No beta, sorry, even for $1,000,000.

I really think he is just waiting to release it because he can at this point. It was done for 5.1 weeks ago, now 5.1.1 is here and he is waiting until about the time 6 is talked about. Meaning he will probably wait until 6 is out to release it IMO.

Hopefully it's out in a few weeks for real though. I don't mind waiting, but stop teasing us! Lol
