No more pokemon! Please put this **** in some other place no one wants to hear about this crap it has nothing to do with Apple or the front page!

It's a great upgrade from sitting on sofa glued to a TV or just sitting in front of PC all day.

Yes but if you do that, you have problems already....

I spend my entire day glued to a computer at work. The last thing I want to do is glue myself to another screen and it's rather nice taking in the scenery, AND I also get to play with my dogs. You know, fetch, tug-of-war, or simply enjoying their company. I don't want to be glued to a smartphone to do this.

In fact, no doubt we'll start seeing entire families doing the same too. It's quite depressing.

What amazes me is the number of adults walking around with their faces glued to their phones. I find it all a bit sad.

In the meantime, I'll return to my real life and enjoy time with my wife, dogs, friends, and probably go for a cycle too....
Good for you. You doing all that stuff after you've finished sitting at your PC, posting online about a game where people go outside and walk around?

I'm paid to sit in front of a PC all day to do my job. I occasionally take a bit of time to have a look at stuff that interests me (such as Macrumors), but I guess it comes down to whatever floats your boat.

However, I won't let my kids get sucked into this nonsense.

Reality is a lot more rewarding than a virtual game.

Sadly, this was happening already. Just waiting for reports of first Pokemon fatality due to not looking when crossing the road.

My kids have finally been outside again. My daughter of 17 came home after midnight yesterday because she 'had to' catch Pokemons. 'Normally' she would have been lying in bed awake till too late exchanging mobile 'nonsense' with friends.

Undecided yet if this is a good thing or not :)

Depends on what she looks like.

yeah, because what you do is a loot less "sad" than others. Please tell us how to live our lives? Also what we should buy and what kind of jobs we should apply

If you read my post again, you'll notice I never told you or anyone to do anything. Only that I find the whole phenomenon very odd and a poor sign of things in society.

I'll concede it was a judgement on my part, but crack on with chasing your little fantasy world monsters. I'm not going to stop you.

There's nothing wrong with video games, but like everything it should be in moderation. I've worked for EA Games and also the Microsoft Xbox Division within their certification team so I know about addiction and obsession with gaming probably more than you do. I also work in gaming now (although a different kind), and people need a reality check from time to time. In other words, they need to let go of the virtual world and step back into real life.

All too often I've seen the depressing sight of parents around a restaurant table all tapping away at their mobiles and the kids doing the same. More depressingly and just a couple of weeks ago, I saw a mother with her daughter out for breakfast. The mother spent the entire time glued to Facebook scrolling through endless and mind-numbing posts, before eventually taking a ridiculous selfie of herself and the daughter, and posted it to her feed with the ridiculous comment, "Quality time with my beautiful girl". "How would she know", I thought? She's barely taken her eyes off her phone for a moment.

Short of the long is that's why I'm quite anti fads like this, but if you want to use it, I won't stop you. I just think there are better things in life. You shouldn't get so upset when people start judging you for having a crooked neck for staring down at your phone so much.

Hmmm, sounds like the mother and daughter should have been more concerned with a stranger watching them. Obviously close enough to be able to read a sentence being typed on a mobile device. That's just creepy.
