Wonderful, more idiots to drive around NOT paying attention to where they are going. Instead of enjoying my hike last night I had to watch out for the countless morons staring at their phones and LITERALLY not looking at the road. I confirmed these were Pokemon players (they were all going to the same spot and getting out of the car, staring at their phones still).

im laughing at all of the pretentious pricks in here talking about how great their REAL life is. Then why are you on a forum about apple computer products typing away your little hate? LOL just let people have fun. If you don't like it, fine.

Probably many of us are at work....

NERRRRRRRDDDSS!!!!

Yes, but we nerds win with a cultural victory.

That genuinely sounds quite nice and I genuinely see that's a positive use to this phenomenon; Especially if you mix it in with sight seeing with the kids.

I just find it odd when I see adults running around staring at their phones in the middle of town!!!

It is a bit odd. I'm a geek and a dad and it was crossing my mind that I feel like an 8 year old out here chasing pokemon. Are those kids looking at me, do they know what I'm doing right now? This is awkward. The reason I wanted to do it though is so that when I see my kids, we have an opportunity to talk and share stories about a shared interest.

I thought this was pretty neat. It shows the diverse range of people out chasing Pokemon.

This judgmental attitude baffles me. It's a fun little thing to do while I walk around. My wife and I take our dogs on walks - so now I open the app and glance at it occasionally. I walk all around our downtown campus for work, so sometimes I'll open the app when I'm walking.

If you were so satisfied with your wife, dogs, friends, and bike, you probably wouldn't feel the need to look down upon people who enjoy things different than you do.

What baffles me is how you or anyone could be offended? This is a forum. It's about an exchange of opinions. There was never any pointed or rude comments directed at those who enjoy a bit of game play.

My issue is not the enjoyment of the game, I don't care what people play. It is the lack of awareness many of them seem to have while driving their cars. Hey, if they want to walk into the road and get hit by a car that's their deal, but when you drive a car and care more about the dumb game you're playing; that is a problem for everyone.

I used a US account to get it here in the UK because the local newspaper I work for wants to do an article on it.

Seems cool, however, doesn't work well with iOS 10 Beta 2 in the sense that the game can't find the Gyropscope rendering all of the AR stuff broken or not accessible.

It's not that there were no distracted drivers before, it's just that this is adding more. The ones that were distracted without Pokemon are still there, remember?

Either way, it's a fun concept and as long as people are aware of what's going on around them and don't endanger others (doing it while driving), then it's all fun and games.

This is by far the most popular app in the US - it's the fastest growing app EVER and is currently being used more than Facebook in the US. That's HUGE. I think it's right for Macrumors to report on this - there are a lot of people around the world very excited to get this game.

It is however but that: a popular game. I would think the majority of MacRumors readers are adult-thinking-people, whose least concern in their life is that a popular game has been released in Germany.

Front page worthy? I think NOT.

Yeah, since we have a problem why not just make it worse! Sometimes I do question the thought processes of some individuals. I guess we should encourage more murder and rape too while were at it, since you know, there is already a problem with that. What terrible logic.

It's not huge, it's BORING. This, just like Flappy Birds & all three hype train die quickly.

More rubbish for people to waist their lives on & utilise their £500+ gadget.

Starting to believe the return on dumb phones are actually the true smart way to go..

Have you ever just watched the world go by when sat in a restaurant or cafe?

I guess all artists, old people, kids, couples, etc are all creepy and we should keep our eyes fixed to our phones.

I despair....

Watching the world go by from a distance where you can read text on an other person's mobile device? Seriously? You have to be a foot away to see text on a mobile phone. So either (a) your head was over this poor woman's shoulder or (b) the anecdote was factitious to prove whatever point you are trying to make. I honestly hope it's the later because it's way less creepy.

I'm bored of this game already and I've never even played it.

Well that explains why you're bored of it...

So you are frustrated because you just started playing and want to beat people better than you? Such a sad mindset.

Not true. Go catch pokemon. Sheeesh .

But the point still remains that its difficult to "catch up" so to speak. Catching pokemon is only one aspect of the game, the gyms are a 2nd very important aspect. But when they become dominated by the obsessive 1% of players it can lead to a frustrated experience for others. I just tried fighting at one of the weaker gyms that I could find this morning (first gym battle) and it was fun, but I lost pretty badly. I would like to be able to interact with the gyms but it seems futile with virtually no way of getting over the hump. I would say that is one of the biggest downfalls as it stands now. There needs to be some way of having permanently weaker gyms or archiving a gyms weaker states for lower-level opponents or something like that. Then perhaps the lower level challengers wouldn't be able to take over a gym, but still have a chance of winning battles and gaining experience.

Hmmm, sounds like the mother and daughter should have been more concerned with a stranger watching them. Obviously close enough to be able to read a sentence being typed on a mobile device. That's just creepy.

You don't have a clue. There have been countless times I could EASILY read what someone is typing on their phone. You don't have to be looking over their shoulder .. font sizes can be larger, and on screens 6"+ these days it's much easier than you think.

Herbert from Family Guy, hearing about all the children roaming around town in parts they wouldn't normally be in was heard saying, "My ship has come in!!!"

Adults enjoy video games too, as evidenced by this thread. There are even German adults in this thread that are happy about this.

I suppose though that "adult-thinking-people" will soon be able to read about the latest in Apple Watch bands and the latest stop on Tim Cook's newest road trip. Top of their concern list for sure.

I'm on a 6s+ right now. It's a foot away from my face as I type this. I guess you answered my question. I despair hahaha.

NERRRRRRRDDDSS!!!!

The people I've seen running around chasing Pokemon thus far don't appear to be nerds in the classic sense. In fact, I haven't seen one person playing the game who would self-identify as a "nerd", I don't think.

I was not mentioning the 6S+, there are even larger phones out there (such as Samsung devices) which allow users to do things like change fonts and font sizes. If you're eyes are event remotely decent you can see it well over several feet away. Assuming you're single experience is the same experience that all have is a bit silly.

Would agree with you–except that grownups are playing it...LOL
