Agree strongly. (Though not about leaving Apple.)

Yesterday in the "Germany App Store" article, MacRumors wrote:

"We'll update this article if and when Pokémon Goappears in other App Stores around the world today."

But no, they lied and created a whole new article today! Just do incremental, one-line updates of the format:

"Update, 7/14/2016 [include time of day if you'd like]: the Pokemon Go App has been spotted in the UK App Store today."

That will be more than sufficient

Who cares? You don't pay to use macrumors. Move along.....

And you don't pay me to control my opinion. After you. Don't let the door hit you.....

I'd really like to see MacRumors demonstrate some editorial professionalism. I think it would increase the value of the site on many levels.

I don't post every thought that I have on MacRumors or on MacRumors' editing/content. It would be nice to see MacRumors demonstrate that approach, too. There is no need to increase staffing to simply print more dreck - especially on topics really not terribly related to Apple and Apple products/services.

It's still a fad. Doesn't matter how viral it gets, it's always short lived. There's always going to be records to break. This Pokemon GO thing WILL lose momentum, people will still be playing it but they will not keep up the level of viral it's at now. People who don't even like and have never even seen Pokemon are playing it, because it's popular right now and 'cool'. Those people will drop off the minute there's a new filter on Snapchat or some other s**t.

Before calling me 'out of touch' maybe you should brush up on your knowledge of how viral things work. Because it's a model that has been repeated time after time and it's always the same.

Well, it's silly to you, but the world is talking about it, and they aren't talking about whatever it is you are working on. Where does that leave you on the totem pole? But hey, don't let this reality check stop you from attempting to lecture everyone else on how you're some kind of "viral guru" with some pertinent yet misunderstood insight into the secrets of the universe.

It's amazing how many people think that by clicking the link, increasing the comment count, and encouraging others to click and comment in agreement or dissent, they're going to discourage MR from posting that type of content.

The correct spelling is "bastardized".

;)

Id like to see you care about something. Then when that thing changes in a way you dont like, I'd like for you to stay quiet, ignoring it, lest you risk making it worse. And so, submissively walk away, not letting anyone know. A spectator to life.

Nintendo, rise to the glory and buy Apple!
And then release something like Mactendo Entertainment System:)

What exactly is it that you care about? If you have feedback about how the site is managed, there's a place for it:
https://forums.macrumors.com/forums/site-and-forum-feedback.66/

You see, the banner at the top of the page says "MacRumors: news and rumors you care about". It doesn't narrow their scope any further than that-- they want to post what people care about.

The only real objective metric for "caring" is what gets the most clicks, comments and likes. That's a much better measure than to try and read all of the individual posts subjectively to determine which are on topic, which (like yours) are meta commentary on the MR team itself, which are trolls, which are jokes, which are typos, etc.

So, by pissing and moaning you're showing that you care. At the same time you're making the forum much less pleasant for all the other people who come here and it degrades the overall quality of the site.

Which I care about. And I don't like how you're changing it. And I see that while it's making the site less pleasant for me, it's also running counter to your own goals. So rather than submissively walk away, I spoke up, and let you know.

I recommend that if you don't like the editorial decisions of the site, you go to the feedback forum and air your opinion where they'll hear it, it won't work against your goals, and I don't have to page through "this is dumb / no it isn't" arguments.

The point I was making is if you don't like something no one is forcing you to read it, just scroll past it. Simple. Is it really that important?

Why worry about something so trivial as what stories are published on an Internet news site?

Glad to see you're capable of a reasonable and productive discussion. Everyone was talking about Flappy Bird. The world reported on how much money it was making. Two weeks later it was all over. Fads come and go.

Now I'm not saying Pokemon will only last 2 weeks because it will probably last longer. But this initial buzz will die down. Why are you getting so butt hurt about it? Did you make the app? Are you the CEO of Nintendo?

I'm sorry it means so much to you. Maybe try spending your time worrying about something more important.

Also your 'totem pole' analogy doesn't offend me. I'm not an app developer and I'm not working on anything. You're clearly not worth trying to have a discussion with.

Pokemon has been popular for 20-odd years, that's not a 'fad'.....

Macrumors posts articles on anything that relates to Apple, either directly or indirectly. Clearly Pokemon Go being one of the most popular apps on the iOS App Store is easily something that qualifies and the fact that the comments threads are popular shows that the audience of this site are very interested. Then there's the vocal minority like you trying to throw your toys out the pram. Thankfully the editors don't listen to the haters.

Since we are already giving our advice we werent asked for here is mine.

Dont feed the trolls, it works against your cause, the same way you claim my commenting here does against mine. See, the more attention you give us whining, pissing moaning commenters the stronger we get, and thus the more unpleasant we make your time here at MR.
ESPECIALLY now that I feel so empowered because im important enough to influence your MR experience. This is a big responsibility which I wont take lightly.

And one last thing, I have submitted feedback, curiously enough, they still prefer the Ad revenue because they have not taken my advice.

Nah, I don't take you for a troll. I intentionally responded to a couple of people that sounded frustrated but reasonable. I didn't give satisfaction to the guy who went off half cocked saying we're all gonna leave en masse.

Responding, though, doesn't work against my case in the way it does yours. It ups the click count and ensures that stories like this stick around. So it undercuts the incentive of going meta in the thread.

I suppose if your goal is to make other readers unhappy, then it works against my goal of a more pleasant atmosphere. I didn't take that as your intent though, and I figure responding to 10% of the nonsense doesn't really up the noise level much.

As far as MR preferring ad revenue, their revenue comes from page views; people view pages they care about; MR offers the news and rumors people care about. Their goals are aligned with their revenue model. Granted I don't know who you are, but I don't think your individual preference carries more weight than that of the rest of the community, so I wouldn't expect your lone comment in the feedback thread to change their policy. If the number of complaints on the feedback forums started to approach the number of page views on the actual stories though, then they'd surely reconsider.

Seriously, your best strategy here is to leave the boring stories to the crickets. Less angst for you, and more accurate accounting for MR. If that doesn't work, you might just have to accept that you hold a minority opinion.

"trying to throw your toys out the pram"

This is why I love reading the UK threads, there's always a gem in there somewhere...

Well, popular amongst a certain demographic of hard core fans. Nowhere near the level of people playing Pokemon GO right now.
"Hardcore fans"? Dude, it's one of the best selling series of all time. Each game sells in the tens of millions. Sure now it's enjoyed by hundreds of millions but don't try and pass off the original games as being niche. It's literally the second best selling series after Mario.
