Geez guys...lighten up.

Besides, maybe I'm in the minority here but, I have very little sadness for those that decide to kill themselves. Unless there was some mental illness, suicide is one of the most selfish things you can do.

And let's be honest, I wouldn't expect anyone of you to feel sad if I decided to go jump out a window or hang myself at 1 Infinite Loop. But that's just me...

Really?

I think that uncalled for speculation and humour is the last thing the family wants now.

Try a bit of sensitivity.

Normally, I usually agree with you. Even now, of course you are correct. But this is a rumor site. Rumors are speculation. In addition, freedom of speech means freedom to make a fool out of yourself. When people go about burning the American flag, no one really cares about my sensitivity. In the end today, people are just too sensitive, deserved or not. If the family does not want this, then they should stay away from a rumor site. I think most of the responses are tackless, but some are funny none-the-less.

Couldn't agree more. My last girlfriend was a nueroscientist who researched antisocial behavior like suicide and psychopathy. She tried telling me antisocial behavior like suicide isn't about selfishness but profound depression and specific brain patterns. I told her she was wrong. It IS selfish. End of story.

See http://www.suicide.org/suicide-causes.html
Over 90 percent of people who die by suicide have a mental illness at the time of their death.
And the most common mental illness is depression.

Not to mention the people to feel most sad for are the friends and family left wondering what they could have done to prevent their loved one from committing suicide.

It's a "HE" - 11:42 PM PST -- A Sheriff spokesperson says the person found dead was a Hispanic male who worked at Apple ... there was no one else involved. It's still unclear why officers said there was a female with a head wound in the dispatch audio.

She was the neuroscientist, but you're the expert. Silly little woman.

Ah yes, the expert against the MR member who has zero education on depression. I hope you find the hilarity in what you've exposed here.

My last girlfriend. Noted.

Hmmm...I'll wait on an independent study before believing that. And let's not even begin to debate that depression is a mental DISORDER and NOT an illness. Again, the person has a choice and often times chooses a solution that benefits only themselves and does not take into account anyone around them. Therefore, it is extremely selfish.

Are employee's allowed to carry personal firearms on campus? Don't like the idea of that, considering there should be security on the campus already.

I have lost a very close loved one to suicide so I have a intimate understanding of the experience. Is it selfish? Honestly, I can't say so, especially since I loved them so much. Is it harsh? Very! There is a deep sorrow that follows and an emptiness that opens up. If you have a loving family around you though, it certainly brings you closer than ever.

Do I hate the person for what they did? I never could, because you love them too much. If I could bring them back to life I surely would give them a @ $$ whooping, hug them and never let them go.

Thoughts go out to the friends and family. It's always sad to loose someone, especially to suicide. I sincerely hope they didn't take their life over a layoff - there is always other job opertunities.

Whatever. Mental disorder/illness is splitting hairs and something you can take up with that website if it causes you stress. I'm sure if you're interested enough you can research the studies yourself, I don't feel any need to do so.

Never said it wasn't, although the folks I know who suffer from clinical depression might disagree about your dismissal of the impact of their condition.

Still, whether you are sorry for the dead person is moot. They're DEAD if you hadn't noticed. The people who are suffering now are that person's family, friends, and coworkers.

First of all, it was a guy that died. Second, he committed suicide. Third, I feel for the family but have no sympathy for the guy who decided to kill himself. It was his choice and he chose the cowards way out. Again, if I decide to run out onto interstate after work, will you feel sorry for me? I hope not... #shrugs

I can tell you've never in your life actually known anyone who has killed themself. I tell you what, when you've slipped so deep into depression that you can barely muster the strength to get out of bed in the morning, or feed yourself, or fight off the constant overwhelming feeling of emptiness and self-loathing and you feel like ending your life is the only way you'll ever stop feeling the mental torture of living with the crushing weight of depression, message me and I'll call you a ****ing coward. Because obviously anyone who ends their life is a coward and deserves no sympathy.

People don't just randomly decide to kill themselves. People kill themselves BECAUSE of mental illness.

Well, it definitely seems like the end of one story — that with your girlfriend. :p

May the victim of this incident, and his/her family, find peace. What a tragedy!
