Somebody once said that when you always compare your strengths against another's weaknesses, you appear superman. Just because you probably think that it is IMPOSSIBLE for nothing to provoke you to suicide don't mean you are any ****ing better than those who succumb

No, you're not in the minority. Most people share that ironically selfish misconception, and think it's somehow ethical to argue that everyone on earth, whether they value their life as much as you do or not, should be obliged to go on living lives of chaos and misery for as long as physiologically possible, to maximize suffering, all so that you won't have to have your rosy worldview disturbed by the idea that everything is not as okay for everyone else as it is for you, and that for many, death is preferable in every way to another day in this world.
Damn, this comment is on point.

You all seem far too serious about death. Yes, a person is gone now, and I'm not going to be cracking any jokes, but there's hardly a moral imperative to refrain from it either, beyond attempting not to cause more distress on those close to the deceased. Just, so it goes. Read Slaughterhouse Five sometime.

How can you be "too serious about death". It's just basic common decency to be respectful and not humorous.

Are employee's allowed to carry personal firearms on campus? Don't like the idea of that, considering there should be security on the campus already.

Security can't be everywhere at once. Might be worth researching whether or not gun-free zones are statistically less safe than the alternative.

With this being one of the largest Apple sites on the planet, it is not unthinkable that the family of a deceased apple employee frequents this site. It would be good for some here to realize this and show some respect.

It's more likely, I'd suggest, that as such a high profile site other media outlets look to MR for comments or thoughts - as often happens. Then the views and attitudes could be quoted and make a more interesting story and valuable click-bait. 'Apple fans mock suicide victim' really doesn't make me want to laugh.

But hey, the site has been spiralling for some time now - too many here who think their view and opinion is the only one that counts. I've read several comments in this comments section that state as fact something which is so obviously just their own naive opinion, they feel that by throwing a statement out and stating that it's fact makes it so. Those who have lived a little and have common sense, compassion and understanding usually have a willingness to listen and learn, not simply feel their views are the only ones that count. Many on here can't debate or discuss, they already know it all, there isn't any point in offering your opinion to them or pointing out their mistakes - they know everything and need to learn nothing.

For the rest of us I think we agree this is an unfortunate event, our opinions don't really matter but not mocking or offering innacurate opinions is always the best path. Suicide destroys many lives, the person who dies is just the start, for those who have experienced it first hand we know better than to judge or mock.

Lastly, as this isn't a rumour or an Apple story of any value I feel it should be removed in its entirety, certainly each and every comment should go, it can be an article without comment then. This site would certainly not suffer if the article wasn't in the archives.

"According to the sheriff's dispatch call there was a female employee involved in an argument on the campus — and she was being escorted out by security when she sustained a head wound ... possibly from a gunshot."
What a weird story. What are you doing with Apple, Tim...

This was very unfortunate. We gonna have to wait for further report of how it happened.

Have all these posts been deleted already? I can't see anything that's distasteful.

Yes. My post was #40 in the thread when I made it. It's #19 now, suggesting 21 posts were deleted.

Dejo's post, currently #49, says the thread was closed, the offensive posts removed, and the thread was reopened.

Any updates on this story?

Reuters update last night says it was a suicide of a male employee.

Excerpt:

The Apple Inc employee found dead at the company's California headquarters committed suicide, dying of a self-inflicted gunshot to the head, police said on Thursday.

The victim, who was found on Wednesday deceased in a conference room at Apple's campus in Silicon Valley, was identified as 25-year-old Edward Thomas Mackowiak of Santa Clara, California.

"The Medical Examiner determined the manner of death was suicide and the cause was a gunshot to the head," the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office said in a written statement.

That's just too sad! :( From the main thread update, it was suicide.

Young age, got a job at Apple where lots of people dream to work...
I'm very sorry to hear that there's a reason for the person to commit suicide. RIP
