I keep a lot of personal data on my iPhone ....

I do too, all my passwords and banking info but it is all kept locked up in the encrypted vault called Keeper.

Everyone has choices, I am just telling mine. I keep my iPad password locked as I leave it behind at the house and allow it to "remember passwords" so if someone breaks in and steals it, it will brick.

Enjoy your phone!

I'm using oneSafe, but I like to have my personal data secured below two levels of security.
I don't like to have people reading my private messages also, so I don't want an easily accessible smartphone ...

It's a matter if choices, as you said

I guess I'm used to the numeric lock. It probably saves me one second with touch ID, lol.

Ok. I like it a lot. I never used a pass code on mine, but now with touchID I can lock my phone, and simply hold my finger on the home button to unlock it. Works great, and for me not as much of a pain.

I've only had my iPhone for 2 days but so far it's worked flawlessly. If anything it's great for iTunes/App Store purchases as I have a really long password.

None of those options fit me. I disabled it because I check my phone frequently and unlocking from touch ID takes more time than just leaving it unlocked for 5 min. Wish they gave the option to still allow the phone to not lock ASAP like when using only pass code.

Do you literally have the phone glued to your eyes?

I check my phone frequently; I define frequently during the business day as every 10 minutes. I have all noises turned off so I need to check. It takes me about 1.5 seconds to log in. Securing my phone is more important quick access.

No it's glued to my hand... I sometimes shut off the screen and turn it back on up to 4 times in a minute... calculator app, checking my various fitness apps, email, text messages, web browsing, etc.

Having tried Touch ID for a few weeks it seems a better fit for me to use for iTunes/App Store purchases and I'm sure there will be apps in the future that will make good use of it. But to unlock the phone it's not a perfect solution... I turn my phone on and off too often and the failure rate of reading my fingerprint while better than most is still at 80% success rate for me. If I need to spend more time holding my finger on the button than it takes to swipe and type in my 4 digit password it doesn't work for me.

I'm not worried about "security" of my phone. I've had a top of the line mobile phone for well over a decade and I've never lost it, had it stolen or had anyone break into it. If I leave it somewhere longer than 5 minutes then the passcode comes on and nobody is unlocking it... the likelihood that someone will happen upon/steal my phone and turn it on in 5 min is as slim as me dropping my phone (and that is a near never situation for me)... and on top of that... Touch ID doesn't prevent one from shutting off my phone after they've taken it so I can't track it with Find my iPhone... the whole utility of Touch ID as a form of actual security is a farce. It's a slight deterrent; as useful as putting an orange cone in the middle of the road to stop drivers... most people will just drive around it or through it... if they can.

4 times a minute? There are programs available to deal with that?;)

Actually I couldn't disagree more. While it's true a neer-do-well could literally swipe the phone from my hand while I'm texting (and hopefully not mug me in the process), I could be in for some trouble if I didn't wipe the phone in a quick amount of time. However, if a thief shuts it off, the most they could do is use it for parts.

If someone swipes my phone after it's locked, the most the thief could do is use it for parts. If touch id wasn't available I would still have the 1 minute delay in effect and would have to type in my passcode all of the time, so touch id speeds up the process dramatically.

It's not that it's a farce, it's that those who want to be security minded have a quicker method of getting into their phone than typing a strong password every time.

My son who has had a phone for over 10 years and is extremely responsible had his iphone disappear. We never got it back, however, it does happen even if your iphone is glued to your palm via crazy glue.

Therefore I treat my phone like it could disappear any second; unfortunately that is the truth.
