In what states is it illegal to be married at age 23? Or is it illegal for something else I'm guessing...

no. its the whole we're-both-guys thing
i'm the younger one in the relationship (though it doesnt always seem that way)

nope, 24 yo single dude and enjoying it :)

20 year old male.

I will never marry for a many reasons. I am not marriage material nor datable.

I am not romantic or affectionate.

I am a cold hearted bastard.

So I'm told.

hey man, you need to give yourself credit.

Probably should make a poll that has the option:

A. Married - Happily

B. Married - Unhappily

C. Married - Want to shoot myself

This would provide a better perspective. :)

Luckily I am in category A, and very happy. Of those I know who are married, more than half fall into categories B & C.

22 not married but will be considered common law in 3 months.

I, personally just don't see the purpose in getting married. I think its about as useful as a post-it note saying 'I love you' on it. I don't need a piece of paper to say that we love each other. But that's my opinion and it applies only to myself and my relationships

I agree! I also never want to be a "wife."

getting married is a great tax deduction
The costs out weight the tax benefits.

It's like buying property for the mortgage tax deduction. Not a good plan.

Of course there are other benefits to owning property, but solely to be able to deduct your mortgage interest is not wise.

So you're saying women are property? Hope your wife doesn't see this! :p

Believe it or not, people have done that very thing. They lived together as roommates, but figured getting married would share insurance, and tax breaks. A business proposal if you will.

Yep, I've known some who have a marriage of convenience.

I've also seen some of them end up going to court for tax fraud and other issues. Sure most don't get caught, but some do.

So do we have older, single geeks? Or young, married geeks?
How old are you and are you married?

Young, single geeks! :)

I'm a 21-year-old female and been with my current boyfriend for 18 months. We used to live together before I freaked out and moved out. But I'm at his place most days and we feel like we're married...

Married for 18 years come October.

I can honestly say that all three of those have applied at one time or another. Currently at A.
