ick, a vacation is just a business trip if you take you computer. The only do-dads I take are the EOS 30D and my iPod (mainly to back up photos).

otherwise, good bye technology. If I need to check email or something I could find a cafe' or something with a computer and internets, and if I can't, well thats why I am on vacation in the first place.

But, then again. I have not been on a vacation in over 4 years.....

i just got my MB in dec so i haven't had a chace to take it with me on vacation yet. i do have worries about taking it with me. i go over seas and stay at hostels. that worries me a lot, leaving it at the hostel when i'm not there. even with lockers. very few times i have stayed at hotels, i would feel safe keeping my MB there.

Depends on the holiday, I took it with me when i went to MWP and visited* a friend in germany last year, other than that? no.

Not yet...but I haven't gone anywhere since I got my laptop(a year and half ago) that I could bring it. I'm going to Europe this summer, and I'm planning on bring it. I wasn't going to if I could have gotten the iPhone go then, but I'm leaving the 21st of June/

I've taken my notebook with me on vacation a few times, but I just check email once at night. I probably won't take it on my next vacation given the fact I rarely use it when I'm away.

This pretty much sums up my experience. The times that I have taken my notebook with me on a vacation, I rarely found the time to do anything with it, and so I've more or less stopped doing that. And as some other posters have mentioned, if I really feel like I need to "check in", I can usually find a "business center" or some other location where I can get online for a little while.

I take a laptop out to lunch, so it goes without saying that one always comes with me on holiday. I have a Vodafone 3G Datacard, but have also connected via various other methods in the past - including AOL dialup as, in some countries where they have local access numbers, it can be a cheap and easy (as in easier than finding a local ISP) way to get online.

Now, Apple, if you could start selling something truly ultraportable then I could stop considering upgrading my Sony T2XP to a Sony TZ. ;) Oh any new MacBook Pro will do!

I always bring my MBP with me when I travel. I "need" to check email and news as well as place to store RAW files. Still haven't gotten around to upload the pics on my iPod.
However, I always make sure the hotel I am staying at have an in-room safe for a laptop. (it was easier when I was traveling with my iBook)
Surprisingly few have a safe. :(
