I've gotten into the habit of resetting my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook every morning when I wake. I started this when I had an iPhone 3G and then an OG iPad and its just been habit now. I still feel like it optimizes the OSes well by giving it a nice reset daily.

i always switch my iPhone,iPad 9'7 inch & mini off every night without fail

Oh there's plenty of fail. :) Because there's no reason to do any of that. The only reason to turn these devices off is if they're acting up and need a cold boot. Which, granted, is necessary FAR more often on 6.0/6.1 than on any previous version of iOS, but still nowhere near every device, every day.

I'm surprised all tech forums don't make that B********* when you type it.

I had the 9930 (top of the line BB for years) and HAD to get rid of it. Awful.

Tell me about it, I can go to the bathroom, grab a glass of water, come back to my room and my BB still booting up LOL

I've had my original iPad since it was launched. It is used every day, still running like new, has never crashed and is in immaculate condition.

It has been charged almost every night and has never been switched off. Why would anyone want to switch an iPad off?

I turn it off at least once a day to reboot my Mini but other than that, it stays on sleep mode whenever I'm not using it.

I probably will start charging it with it off completely once in awhile

To free up ram especially on devices with only 512 mb of Ram and lower

I turn it off, remove the back panel and remove the battery every night. I keep the battery sealed in a bag and keep it at 15 degrees Celsius to ensure it stays fresh.

Cool, me too.

I wasn't joking about turning my ipad 9'7 inch,iPhone,iPad mini off if iam not using it when sleeping I like to keep the power for when I need most

Sometimes I turn it off if I know I won't be using it for a very long time. Usually if leave it and then find out a few days later when I need to use it that it has a dead battery.

Charge in sleep mode, if does not need charged I will completely shut it off.

When the screen is grungy and needs cleaning, and my iPad needs charging, I turn it off, clean the screen and let it charge overnight.

Apple advises:

"Handle your iPad with care to maintain its appearance. If you are concerned about scratching or abrasion, you can use one of the many cases sold separately. To clean iPad, unplug all cables and turn off iPad (press and hold the Sleep/Wake button, and then slide the onscreen slider). Use a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid getting moisture in openings. Don’t use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives to clean iPad. iPad has an oleophobic coating on the screen; simply wipe iPad’s screen with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove oil left by your hands. The ability of this coating to repel oil will diminish over time with normal usage, and rubbing the screen with an abrasive material will further diminish its effect and may scratch your screen."

You cant charge the ipad when its off

iOS manages the RAM and frees it up as it needs to, No need to turn it off

All my iDevices stay on 24/7 when in regular use and get charged when required. I only shut them down when I know I won't be using them for a week or longer.

Computers, TV etc. at home get completely turned off when not in use, no need to keep them on standby. I also consider hibernation to be "turned off".
