How Do You Eat Your Steak?

Medium rare, though I tend more towards rare these days.

NY Strip is my favorite cut.

Steak Frites at Luxembourg in NYC - about the only place that's come close to the quality I get at home.
 
I went to a friend's BBQ yesterday and he asked me how I like I steak cooked. I said "Rare." Everyone thought I was disgusting for eating anything rare or medium-rare, as if I was holding a cow and just biting it's side while it was still alive and mooing.

People were a bit surprised, but my friend who was cooking has this look. You should have seen the look in that veggo's eyes. :p Priceless.
 
is the poll on the french scale where asking for medium rare is basically blue whilst blue is the animal is still moving?

or is it the american scale where medium rare is well done and well done is a pile of ashes?

Cafe Luxembourg! Nice choice. I've had many a late night Steak Frites there on my way home from a night out.

But you meant it as a joke, right? Rare as in "still alive"...

Ah, I can't wait to head up there in December. I swear, I can live off two restaurants the entire time I'm in NYC - Luxembourg, and Gino.

Ahhhhh, steak and pasta. I'm going to weigh 700 lbs. by the time I'm 30, which is totally fine with me.
 
i like my steak blue /very blue as in it is shown the grill and off yum yum :D

sorry did not read it properly as i said before i like my steak blue /very blue as in steak is shown grill then served with onions and a hot mustard sauce .:D yum yum .

There was actually blood, but the chips / fries had soaked it up before I took the photo.
It was cooked for about 45 secs per side.
 
I'm usually a borderline vegetarian, and only eat meat occasionally and red meat is usually my last option. That said, I don't force my diet on others and on those occasions that I do eat a steak, I like it pretty rare...just a little blood or no blood.
 
My dad made some Fracking™ good steaks. Rare, tender, a bit fatty, tenderloin. Mmm mm good™.
 
I like medium and sometimes medium well. I don't like it so rare I taste the blood, but I like enough pink to where it's still tender and flavorful.
