It works awesome with just the 2 gigs in there. Gonna upgrade to at least 6 in a few months. The project files were pretty big. Lots of sequences in it. A few that were about 1 1/2 hours each. The best is when its un-rendered and you can just skim through it at real time and watch it when its not even rendered yet.

I opened up Motion but haven't done anything yet, but just the way it was working seemed like it was working fast. I'll be testing it this weekend.

Sounds great. I'm debating whether or not to upgrade the RAM right away or wait a couple months. I've got an order at OWC for an extra 8, but they are still back ordered, so I have a few days to think about it.

I am going to begin editing a feature length documentary, but in the first couple months I'll just be digitizing footage, and the sequences I do create won't be getting too unwieldy yet. Maybe I should try it out with just 2 gigs, and see where to go from there? But then again, adding extra RAM is just so cheap (especially relative to the price of the entire computer :D)

Are these the fastest selling Mac Towers of all time? If they are, Steve will tell us next week, but I suspect that they must be.

Was it shot in DV, HD or HDV?

My 2.8 Octo-beast will be here Monday.

6 gigs of ram (soon to be 10), 2.5TB internal storage, Airport Express.

8800GT will be here March 7th.

Nice, you should be just fine with 2gigs for now, but I would upgrade down the road. 32GB would be very interesting to see.

Haha, 32 would be insane!

I am tempted to stick with the 2 for now to save some money, but a large part of me wants to upgrade right away, just to have that much extra power. I guess I'll decide over the weekend.

Decide after MacWorld. Cause believe me, you will not need it right away, it's that fast. And who knows, Apple could announce a BluRay drive or something. lol You might want that more.

I had to restart the computer after installing software and I was like, hmmm, I'll get a drink of water while it's restarting... It finished restarting before I left the room! haha

Yeah it's not like the days of the G4 and G5, the Mac Pros boot up fast (even the old ones). I too was surprised by the boot up time difference between the G5's and Mac Pros.

I went to the Apple store near me on Wednesday and would you believe they did not have the new Mac Pro set up on display??!! I am sooooo in the market for one, like yesterday. However, I am going to reign in my desperation and wait until tuesday before I place my order. Who knows maybe I will be ordering my desktop AND tablet/"UMPC" as a delightful duo. I can dream can't I? If the Mac Pro's are out of stock by then, I might just have a total MacMeltdown.

Ones coming home to daddy!

Order Wednesday morning, arriving Monday - All 29.50kg's of it!

Tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow!!

I can't wait for it to be shipped. There are two Apple Stores within 6 miles of me. I should be able to find one, surely!

Got the stock model with airport yesterday. Had to travel to 3 Apple Stores, and got the last one at the 3rd Apple Store :D

Did they have Airport already installed or did you just buy it at the same time and DIY?

Order placed on Tuesday shortly after the store opened up. Paid extra for 2 day delivery. FedEx.com says I should have it by 7pm on Tuesday.

I also have 4 gigs of ram coming from OWC. Should have it on Monday or Tuesday.

Here's the kicker: This will be my first Mac. :D

Maybe that's why they released it a week early--I'm sure they know how many of us were waiting.

Mine will be here in 3-5 weeks. I ordered at 1230 PST the day they were released, so we'll see.

Got the stock configuration plus the 8800GT. I have no need for Airport Express. Along with it I also ordered the Logic Studio upgrade ($145) from Logic Pro 7, and a .Mac subscription for $70.00. The software got here Thursday.

I find it amazing that Apple released the update having only ONE of three possible cards in stock. I don't know what their deal is.

I'm going to be placing my order after MacWorld. So glad I waited so I can get the 8800GT now :)

What is the alternative? To delay releasing it until the cards are in stock? No thanks, I'm enjoying mine right now.
