I picked this one!

Wrist circumference is 152.4 mm

I selected the 38 mm Space Gray Sport with black band.

Tried on this (except the sport band was white) at the Apple Store and it works for me. The 42 mm was just too large, a bit bulky and not as comfortable.

Sorry if you have already seen these pics, they have been around a couple of days but in in the same conundrum. I think if you want to predominantly use a sport band, the 42 looks a little too big, however the sleeker leather and Milanese straps look quite good. I'm still undecided!

Thank yo for these! Very helpful!

The different angles makes it really difficult to really know which is which, let alone able to determine which is the best fit. Can you go back and take some more pictures? Get the person who helps you try it on to take pictures with a direct line of sight of the watch face. We need to see if the 42mm is going to overwhelm your wrist or not.

Here's another one ...

If the 42 strap is so large that it wraps all the way around to the other edge of the watch (I'm assuming that's what you meant) then I think that one is just too big. You could opt for a different strap, of course, if you definitely want the 42.

That's exactly what I meant, it goes almost all the way around. There's about an inch left.

I've gone for 38mm. I'm not used to wearing a watch so I don't want anything too obtrusive. I also have small wrists. I tried both the 38 mm and 42 mm. The 42mm felt too bulky so the 38 mm was a good choice I think.

it's funny cause after trying it on, the 42mm looks great on everyone. The human brain is funny. I'm a man with small wrists ~160mm and got the 42mm. My wife is around 140mm and she got the 38mm.

I also only have a small amount of room left on the Milanese loop. But I doubt our wrists are going to get smaller.

I would go for the 38mm. But I think it really depends in your preference. 38mm is more of the appropriate size, but 42mm for the bigger screen.

I have the same issues too with both, and I went with the 38. I m a guy though. I think part of it is how you dress. When it comes to picking one or the other; casual clothing compared to dressy clothing.

Went to the Apple Store last night and tried on the 38MM Sport, Milanese, and Modern Buckle. Since my wrists are pretty small, I didn't even try the 42MM. In person it looked way too big for me. My favorite was the 38MM Milanese. It just looked classy and the band was very comfortable. Still on the fence as to whether I want one or not.

I am thinking that if you try on the case, especially the silver polished SS, your skin reflects off of that case, making it seem smaller. If you truly want to notice the size, try on the black case, the bold contrast between your skin and the case itself will be distinct.

An issue with the Milanese in my head is cleanliness. Let say you go out for dinner, eat, talk, and a drop of the food sauce goes onto the link and inbetween and inside the links, how do you know you really got it all out? What about sweat and soap scum if you try to clean it off?

female: wrist size approx. 165 mm - ordered 42mm

I had never thought of my wrist as big until trying on some cuffs years ago.
Then I thought those cuffs must run small. Of course i couldn't possibly have oversized wrists, right? I must have the Seinfeld man-hands also. I'm an average sized woman in all but my man sized hands, wrists, and feet. Anyway, I measured my wrist before ordering the watch. My left wrist appears to be approx. 165mm (6-¼ inch),maybe a tad less. I am also of the age of needing reading glasses so I ordered the larger 42mm watch. I also like big watches. Now I'm also thinking maybe the bigger watch will make my wrist look dainty! Hopefully it's not too big. (Crossing my man-hand fingers.)

It would be somewhat difficult to drop sauce on your watch band, but if it happens, just rinse the band with water.

I've made up my mind. I'm going with the 38. Ahh! Feels good to have made the decision!

I'm in the same boat as you. I ordered the 42 also my wrists are 165mm.

42mm
I was comfortable with the 38 until the rep pointed out it might be harder to read without my glasses. White is 38mm

Ordered both the 38 and 42 with the white strap on the 10th. I have 155mm wrists. I tied them both on in the store but still undecided. I need reading glasses so the 42 makes more sense but it looked a little too thick to me.
Still torn....

The 42 isn't really big enough to provide a meaningful boost to readability, from what I've seen. I've tried on Apple Watches twice in the past week. Guess the size.

I ordered the 38mm SS with White Band. I wasn't thrilled with only having the choice of white and black, but I wanted the SS. I'll order a blue band one of these days...

It's a 38.

:)

I have a 158mm wrist, too. It's just not that wide across the top, so the smaller watch looks quite large on me.

The 42 looks gigantic and like a toy on me.

Blue sport or midnight blue modern buckle?

The blue sport only has a 2-4 week shipping window, and that might improve. I'd just order one, if I were you.

The modern buckle (which I really do like in the blue) could take forever to come available.
