Oh cool he's going to visit people, and inconvenience feces-loads more. They could spend some of the hojillions of dollars that they suck out of the gullible to try and actually make a real difference, but hey, getting hosted (at least partially on someone else's dime) is way more cost effective.

For a moment, put aside the man's religion and look at the spotlight he's cast on the marginalized worldwide. You couldn't spend that money better if you wanted to. Yes, we should all be inconvenienced. That's the whole point.

mother teresa cast a spotlight on the sick and dying by sitting there and watching them die and getting off on their suffering instead of actually helping them. People inexplicably thought that was good, too.

You seem to be very closed minded whilst trying to appear open minded. Sure, people with religion are doing things in the interests on their religion. But they (the Pope at least) is doing these things because of beliefs, not merely to waste money or inconvenience people. He doesn't seem to be about greed or power. His views will change the minds of many because he is taking steps no other Pope did.

You just need to accept that there is a Pope along with many religions and different views. Provide a real solution to what you see as the problem instead of a fantasy where the Pope disbands all religions.

Adults??? There are adults who still have an imaginary friend who always loves them and always forgives them, no matter what they do? I thought people outgrew such delusionary beliefs before puberty. Surely only small children and morons believe in Santa Claus, faerie godmothers, Jesus, thimbelina, the Easter Bunny, etc.
Cool man. I'm not getting into it with you because you clearly already know everything. Again, stay classy.

'Getting off on their suffereing'. Seriously, that's just irresponsible posting.

“I think it is very beautiful for the poor to accept their lot, to share it with the passion of Christ. I think the world is being much helped by the suffering of the poor people.”

Her own words. She was a twisted individual who took donations earmarked for medical treatment and by most accounts sent 'em straight to the Vatican. Most of her "help" seems to have been in the form of giving someone a cot to lay in while dying in pain.

Yeah, you must be right. The poor should aspire to own the iPhone 6S instead.

You do realize that the overwhelming, vast majority of the world has a different view than you. Is that okay with you? Or does that have you so pissed off that you cannot control yourself?
You sound like a child and are obviously a troll. Zero class and respect. But, that's what trolls do. Pat yourself on the back, troll.

Beetles outnumber humans. That doesn't mean that beetles are more intelligent than humans. Pissed off? Your post evidences more anger than any other in this thread. Respect? I have no respect for child rapists.

Mother Teresa should have been awarded a nobel prize in marketing and self-promotion. If she was all about helping the poor, she would have done so modestly but she did exactly the opposite. She introduced distinctive embellishments to the garments worn by her order to attract attention, publicity, fame, and wealth. Worse than the Kardashians.

I can't wait until this insanity is over. Not just UPS, all mail will not be delivered. "No car" zones for blocks - and every car in these zip codes must be off the streets by tomorrow night. Fences are up, literally blocks of bright blue 3000+ port o potty's are in place (HOPE they remain locked until Friday) The traffic is already gridlocked. I never seen anything like it.
Good grief, are they expecting the Pope or ISIS? That's insane. I really feel bad for elderly and the family caring for them, waiting on deliveries of medical supplies and not having access to their cars. My husband, sister-in-law and I care for four elderly chronically ill disabled family members. It would be a disaster for our family if we lived in a city the Pope is visiting. I'm so glad I'm out in the country. Of course, I do have to put up with horseflies.

So this guy needs government funded (your tax dollars folks) protection, but Steve Jobs didn't even lock his back door to his house?

Say what you will but Steve Jobs was easily one of the top 5 most important human beings living before he passed away. People spend thousands of dollars on Apple gear, and religiously use them, depend on them, love them, and feel privileged to have them.

Last I checked, religion is free, and churches are mostly empty.

I really wonder what some people would do in this country if there was a complete cell phone/internet outage for a week. They would literally freak out. It's really unbelievable. Some of you guys need to really get a life. I mean really, it's a cell phone!!

You can't be serious. Some of her views might have been leaning on a fundamental side, but she still helped more needy people than 99% of the world's population. Maybe you need to read up on her, cause she sure wasn't watching people die and suffer without trying to help them.

Terrorists hyjacked several jet liners and took out the world trade centre and no one saw it coming mate. Killing the pope would be great for any terrorist group. That's why you need so much security these days, they don't care who you are or what religion you are.
Oh, so they ARE expecting ISIS, in a manner of speaking. This is in reference to my previous post where I ask incredulously are they expecting the Pope or ISIS? I need to keep up and wrap my mind on how treacherous a place the world is now.

Religion is dangerous, why should anyone respect a bunch of lies that are used to control masses and commit countless murders and atrocities? Even if we disregard this small problem, I can't see how it's healthy for people to live their lives in delusion. Wouldn't it be healthier if people grew up and got a grip on reality? Someone has to tell them that Santa (or was it God?) doesn't exist. The same goes for the people annoyed by the delay, I hope that one day they'll grow up and realize how any smartphone ever is completely irrelevant.

So, what is relevant? Relevant is relative.

Religion is dangerous because it's exploited. Corporations are exploited, governments are exploited, society is exploited, the poor are exploited, etc. Where do you draw the line between what is relevant and what isn't? We choose to believe/trust in other concepts with less than perfect implementation (government, etc.), so why is religion any different?

Get a grip on reality? Reality as you define it? For some people, religion is a reality. If it gives them hope and a standard by which to live, why are they "unhealthy?" Until someone can conclusively prove the existence or lack of existence of God, there will be a debate.

Also, when you compare Santa Clause to God and instantly call religion (I assume you mean any religion) a "bunch of lies," you come off as angry and arrogant and your argument is already taken less seriously.

Yes, unfortunately, that's exactly it. Killing a leader of a country only affects that one country. Killing the Pope affects millions of people around the globe.

I know, and sadly ISIS or any terror is the reason for these measures. There is a real concern for elderly people, pregnant women due next weekend. Off the top of my head there are 3 large hospitals affected in the central part of Philly. Then there's a large hospital 7 miles just outside the city, literally across the street from where the Pope will be staying. That stretch of highway is closed.

But maybe on the bright side with 19 miles of a major expressway here shutdown (I just read that, that's a new "rule" ..they seem to update these every day.), the major bridge to New Jersey closed off..all roads closed and no cars..maybe the emergency vehicles will have an easier time. We'll see I guess. smh!

Been there, done that after a hurricane blew through. No biggie, as long as there's beer and toilet paper in good supply, as one guy I used to know always said. Wise man, may he rest in peace.

So your point is the government should have protected Steve Jobs with tax dollars? Or that Apple's popularity equates them to organized religion? Or the last time you checked out a church, no one asked you to pay for the service, but the place was empty? Or you don't have a point?
