Been there, done that after a hurricane blew through. No biggie, as long as there's beer and toilet paper in good supply, as one guy I used to know always said. Wise man, may he rest in peace.

That made me laugh!

I've been fortunate enough never to have had a power outage that lasted more than a day. It really is scary how much your life is disturbed if you lose internet for several hours or can't charge your devices, but (and this is a cleché) then you can really appreciate how peaceful and almost slow life can move. When you're used to constant fast pace work with constant emails and checking various websites throughout the day, it's actually a relief to have some offline time.

Sadly, even when I go "offline" I'm still connected through constant emails and collaborative projects. *sigh*

hah that's hilarious. I wonder how pre-ordering catholics feel about this.

Wow, ppl are really going at it here. And thats with the politics posting restriction.

Its just a phone people. Get on with your lives.

Exactly. Boo freakin' hoo, your phone arrives a day later. Something ironic about bashing the "fanatically religious people" and then in an uproar their phone arrives a day late.

Superstorm Sandy was a real b*tch in my area, thankfully I didn't lose my house but did lose electricity for 6 days. Local cell towers were affected....I had my new iPhone 5 at the time and nothing. 4G didn't work what so ever in this dead zoned house...I was getting legit anxiety, plus I was bored senseless. I had to drive a few miles away to a parking lot to get some kind of email/internet access. Choppy TV coverage on the phone.

Yeah I know.. #FirstWorldProblems:rolleyes:

I couldn't agree with you more... I'd probably be fidgeting with watchOS 2 if it hadn't been delayed... instead, I'm on MacRumors... hmmm...

I've had a couple of instances where I've lost power for 2-3 days.

The worst thing about it was that I wasn't able to turn my fan on before going to sleep.

The existence of Santa Claus is more plausible than the existence of a god, but not very much more plausible.

Care to explain, or did you just have to comment because I supported religion with my statement?

It may be first world, but it sounds terrible. I honestly don't know what I would do in that situation because I have work commitments. I suppose I'd have to rent a hotel room in another city for 6 days because I need some sort of access.

The worst thing about it was that I wasn't able to turn my fan on before going to sleep.

Oh man, I didn't even think of that. I bought one of these cheap tower fans 6 years ago for $20 and I've used it every day since when I work at my desk and sleep. (My "office" and bedroom are the same). I can't sleep without some form of whitenoise and that fan is critical. I realized it when I had to go on a 2 day trip and didn't realize how much I needed the sound to sleep.

On a positive note, I heard number of subscribers in the US to the Catholic Church has been declining.

I would find this unacceptable to be honest. Apple could pull a positive PR move and send those iPhones 2 days early, but I doubt that will happen. People who preorder iPhones like myself are the most anxious customers who want the new iPhone before it's even announced. This will piss off allot of people.

So you blame Apple because of the Pope? Blame the cities you live in instead for stupid security policies. Then when bad **** happens you can bitch there wasn't enough security.

It's just an iPhone. You can wait a few days.

I am totally the same way and have been like this since I was a kid. ( I would run this ancient humidifier at night, every night) It would drive my dad crazy because I was sucking up energy.

And that was bad with the power out...total absolute silence. I MUST have some kind of white noise or I simply cannot sleep (AC in the summer, my fan in the Spring/Fall. Always have an air purifier on.)

During that long week back in in late Oct, early Nov 2012, a hotel wasn't an option because insult to injury I had my sick dog at the time, the temps plunged also. So i would take my dog and get some sleep in my car in my driveway with the heater on. Wasn't much of a rest but it was something.

After that nightmare I finally gave in and bought a generator. Never want to deal with that nonsense again.

I've dealt with lack of power for more than a week on 3 different occasions. Ice Storm in 97, Hurricane Rita in 2005, and Ike in 2008. You talk about miserable lol. Just imagine...no power, no air conditioner, in 98 degree Texas Heat for 2 weeks lol. No power, gas shortages, phone was useless, a lot of the food spoiled. Hurricane Ike was crazy lol. Hope to never have to go through that again.

Pretty much this. It's a phone. Not a cure for cancer. Some people act like if they don't get their phone on launch day, their life will end or something. Talk about #FirstWorldProbs

That's why I renounced my Catholicism (Still Christian). The Catholics worship this man as if he is God himself... and that is a no no.

What an ignorant post. You renounced your Catholicism because of that?...sigh. For your information, Catholics do not worship the Pope, they love and respect him because he is the living successor to Peter, the Apostle. Christ Himself instituted Peter as the rock for which he built His church.

Please stop!!! That is Blessed John Paul, once a Pope and now a saint and Catholics pray to saints for intervention. The picture of priests on the ground was taken during their ordination...they are bowed down not for the celebrant (the Pope in this case) but for Jesus. Again, this shows how mis-informed you are, so please stop mis-informing others. This thread is not meant to discuss the Pope but it is meant to inform us of related events.

So your point is the government should have protected Steve Jobs with tax dollars? Or that Apple's popularity equates them to organized religion? Or the last time you checked out a church, no one asked you to pay for the service, but the place was empty? Or you don't have a point?

No, my point is if you're practicing a religion, you and all of your fellow followers should support everything about your religion and not interfere with those who don't. I mentioned Steve Jobs and Apple, because they achieved everything a religion can aspire to achieve without force. If Christianity were to cost $10 a month, it would have hard time competing with Spotify, let alone Apple. I'm sincerely sorry if I went too far and said some politically incorrect things that may offend those who are sensitive to the subject.

You really don't know pope Francesco if you say something like that...
He's a man, worshipped as a man.

If a Pope's visit could affect delivery of a phone, you should blame us security measures, since the Pope lives a few miles from my home and his presence didn't affect anything....

You explain it well. I appreciate accuracy, especially in discussions about religion or politics, where there's a tendency to misrepresent the other person's beliefs by oversimplifying them or willfully misunderstanding them.

Um, well......you uh, didn't happen to read the other posts before yours did you...o_O...they were a bit.......and:mad:...with side order of....

Please excuse the excessive use of emojis. Every night for the past month or two I've been popping awake around 2-4 a.m. I read or post here until I pass back out. The color scheme here lulls me back to sleep. So do all the arguments. There's something about the cadence of a good rant that just knocks me out. Anyway I am drifting back to sleep and emojis say it better for me now. Zzzzzzzzz

I was looking at the images of the thread first and expected the headline to be something like this:

"Pope wearing an Apple Watch"
"Pope declares iPhone6 sacred"
"Pope speaks publicly about the strange looking fish on the new iPhone"

Many religious people on an Apple forum. Fits nicely

I am quite sure Apple buyers are less religious than non-Apple buyers, since apple buyers have higher income than non-apple buyers, and income is negatively correlated to religiosity.
