My good friend has a 911 4s I believe. I have ridden it in, and it was a lot of fun. It is a fine machine, but he babies the thing to death. Every time he takes it out, when he gets back, he puts it up on the the lift, and wipes the whole thing down, armorols the wheels, etc. I'm not sure if he does it because he is OC about the car, or because its a fined tuned car that needs a lot of small maintenance. To me its not worth it. I just want to get into my car and go.
LOL...i think thats a little of both!!!

Very nearly bought a 944S....it was in good shape and the price was right, but there was no way I could afford to keep that thing on the road. A brake job or clutch replacement would park the car for months while I saved money.

I like the 930 and 993 series cars, and of course the 959.

986

On way to Denali.

hey macs are pretty pricey..i figured if some of you dont mind spending so much on computers......then maybe cars werent far off....=P
If we bought PCs, then maybe we could afford the Porsches. Macs eat into that supercar budget just a wee bit. ;)

I don't have one and probbaly won't but there are those who are more fortunate than I.
wow...weird thread.....i hate liars

Anyway.....honestly....its not a matter of fortune for a 944....you can pick one up for pretty cheap if you look right.....they dont call it the "poor man's porsche" for no reason....at a whopping 25k when it first came out, it was by far the cheaper option in the line.

...but when you come right down to it....its still a porsche...and it handles like it.....look on ebay...you'll see what i mean....;D

Here's my new baby, parked in Saint Tropez. Notice all the jealous types around her.

It's obviously not mine

Parking like that will get your car scratched up nasty style.

Yeah, good thing they weren't actually my cars. I'm not even sure why they were in that particular lot, since there was a go-kart race going on right next to them. My Ford Focus on the other hand, I have no worries ;)

I drive a Guards Red 1987 Porsche 944 S. I love the thing. My old Acura just can't compare. But yeah, as far as upkeep is concerned... Most of the stuff you can do yourself and the parts may be a few bucks more, but it is well worth it.

I got my first Porsche back in 1987 (I was 19 at the time) and had owned 4 during the next ten years (always kept the first one during that time though). I had two 914s and two 911s (coupe and targa).

If I ever get back to California (or some place more Porsche friendly than here) I would love to get an old 356b or 356c. I've wanted one of those for almost 20 years now.

I had owned 3 Porsches before I owned my first Mac... I definitely had different priorities back then.

You had a Porsche in college? Geez. I don't have a car at all in college now and in high school I had a 4-cylinder Volvo station wagon.

That makes up most of the population. I think you're reading posts from the 1% of the population who's daddies made enough to buy their kid a Porsche for college.

(And I know I'm making the assumption that he didn't earn the money to buy the Porsche himself, but that is NOT a typical summer job savings type of car to buy)
