That makes up most of the population. I think you're reading posts from the 1% of the population who's daddies made enough to buy their kid a Porsche for college.
Well don't count me in with those whose parents bought them cars... or anything for that matter!

After graduation my parents gave me $200 and a box of food!

No car, no help with school, no help with rent... nothing.

I had the chance to buy a 944s in pristine condition (believe it was an '87) from a dealer auction for around $3,700. But I didn't and I'm glad I didn't. Reliability is questionable and the aftermarket for parts is ridiculous.

I'm sticking with my Honda for now.

I love Porsches from a design/purist perspective, as they are very well-engineered, however they have simply become too common. If someone has enough money to buy a nicer car, it seems like they buy a Porsche, as if it's some status symbol or something. On the contrary, sometimes when I see someone in a Porsche I say to myself, "I betcha they think they're pretty hot stuff..." and chuckle to myself. :p ;)

I like Porsches, don't get me wrong - I love going for rides in my buddy's 2003 911 Turbo - but all I'm saying is I would never buy one myself. But that's just me - I like to "think different" and not just go along with what a lot of other people do... ;)
