OMG it seems the rush to get stuff out has really brought the company down. I am very dissapointed in the sanding job pictured above.

I'd send it back.

I think they've had a lot of returns because of poor quality now and that is just making things worse! OMG. Portenzo what is going on?

Since they are in MO I hope all their family and friends are safe...and well wishes to all those impacted by the storms.

I wanted to update everyone as to what has been happening regarding my case that I posted pictures of...

Within a few hours of my email to Portenzo and posting those pics I was contacted by their CS team with suggestions and a video to try and help me get the stealth power switch working. Additionally they mailed out same-day a missing piece of foam (the one thats a 1/4 circle around the sound port to direct the audio forwards...) so that I could attach it to my case.

Additionally the CS rep emailed me to say that the quality of the finish on my frame didn't look like a Portenzo should and he offered to start a new case in order to remedy the issue.

Although I still haven't gotten the power switch trick working I am confident in their concern over quality and focus towards customers (I know, I know tons of people have had delayed responses but lets face it, they are a tiny company swamped with orders for a quality custom product that takes time!) will keep them producing a quality product with an increasing level of control over little slips such as my case as they move forward.

It has been said, but given how awesome this case looks I suggest that all of you give them some time and hold out because its an amazing compliment to the ipad 2 and it would be your loss if you give up after having waited for this long!

double that! although aren't they in St. Louis - which I believe the tornadoes hit in western miss.

either way - hope everyone ok.

As I mentioned before, I just ordered my case about two weeks ago. so I have a LONG way to go. But Darin has responded to my emails amazingly quick and has been very helpful. I have had nothing but a favorable experience so far with their C.S.

Glad to hear they are taking care of you. Yes, I would go for a replacement case considering the sanding and power button not working.

It looks like they are trying. It is a double edged sword with hiring new employees and keeping the same quality during a rush.

They are doing the right thing and I can appreciate that.

mine too - I yanked the cam padding too - i have no hole - still loose - formulating how to fix it, not sending it back....

Same thing happened to my case - the upper right hand corner is loose. :(

Please let us know if you figure out how to fix it! I don't want to send mine back either.

I have some double sided 3M tape that I might use to level it/raise it up. Just leave one side covered and stick the other side to the case. Its pretty heavy duty stuff but removes cleanly if it doesn't work. Good thing about having a case that is going back, I can try ideas and see if they work on the messed up case.

I am pretty sure that the Secret Power Button won't work after I do this but I never use the power button anyway except to lock/unlock and the case does that for me. I might even take the cover off both sides of the tape and add additional holding power. Raising it up will make the volume and connector port more accessible also.

it's not sequential.....I received 9250 a few weeks ago....

Wow, I wonder how they're doing it than, maybe they're pulling them out of a hat. No but to be serious my guess would be a set group of people are assigned to specific kinds of orders. i.e. one set doing orders for 23 1/2 and another doing regular ones.

Did you get the 23 1/2 by any chance?

I'm thinking a small pin/nub at the top edge corner of non- marking plastic that the ipad would snug under on that corner as all the other corners are extremely tight.....I have jewelers drills to make the pin...just have to get the right material - maybe a delrin pin....when mounted would be almost invisible...I also have a brilliant yacht cabnetmaker friend that will take a look at ti next week.

I don't want to send it back as it'll take a while to get it back and I go on the road for BMW soon - also I have mounted a mini BMW logo on the lower right cover corner so it is mine with marking and can't be exchanged....

It's words like that that keep me sane. :) Scott has been very helpful as well, so that helps since my order is MIA.

Update on the loose top corner - I ripped out the black cover for the cam hole ( I have no hole) and lightly sanded the wood and think I have a good fit now it sits just a shade deeper which seems to be enuf now......- if I insert the right side first and then push down on the left, I have a pretty good total fit. I think the problem in the top corner is not thin rubber but a slight warping in that corner of the frame that allows it to sit sightly higher and not grab...I'll report back after a week's worth of field use. The true test is opening and closing many times as the magnets pull the case "up" a bit when opening...

the bottom finish of all the openings is really crude and weak....but not a deal breaker...

Pics of my Case

I got the composition 2 with customized dark blue on the inside and clear corners. I like it and the quality seems good over all. The iPad sits leveled. Sleepwake works well and the secret power button works well although it's not a button at all. You're basically just pressing on the wood and hope it hits that button...It's really a non-feature really. Magna grip works well. Propping it landscape without the strap is a little tricky. Feels like a house of cards that might topple/slide any minute under any kind of vibration so I wouldn't use it without support of some kind.

Minor issues:
--No foarm semi circle thing near sound port. Sound wasn't bad though
--Camera not centered to the hole
--I found 2 splinters after I took the iPad out a couple of times. They're under the iPad when I put it in the case so so I can't see it and it doesn't affect the functionality. I just hope the splinter on the bottom doesn't split anymore.
--The Portenzo logo on the front not centered relative to the speckled marble parts but centered relative to the whole case. I guess it's just how it's designed and it's a personal preference.

Other than that I like my case and I'm glad I got a different color than black for the inside.

EDIT: okay I have no idea how to resize pictures...the pictures I took were too big. No time to resize them so I'll upload later.

It's been 6 weeks and still no case for me, even after Darin himself confirmed that it would only take 3-4 weeks at most, the day after I ordered it.

I'm beginning to get a little frustrated...

Don't get anymore frustrated, send them another e-mail for an update. Their NEW guy Scott has been doing a pretty good job of keeping on top of these issues.

I got frustrated at 6 weeks as well. If you used paypal, tell them you'll be opening a dispute. That got my case sent out faster within 2 days of my complaining XD.

i cant believe we have to wait more than 2 months for this shet....

Not necessarily. Keep in mind that the order they are fullfilled depends on the type of case you ordered. This is from Scott on their FaceBook page:

...it looks like other people have been receiving their cases before you because of the number system. The numbers are set up with different styles of cases. Also it could be different styles of frames (Stylus, no Stylus etc...).... Thanks, Scott

I received my Composition II (MagnaGrip, no strap, camera hole) yesterday and my order number was in the 9400's.

What is really starting to bug me is seeing people who ordered the same case that I did, after me - get theirs before me.

Ordered a Comp II on 4/6 - order number in the 9300s. I've seen people getting their Comp IIs who ordered days after me already getting their cases when all I get is a it'll ship early next week email from Portenzo. The same email I've gotten 2 weeks in a row and I've still yet to get a shipping notice.

If I wasn't so close to the end of the wait (hopefully), I would cancel.

Looks good. Did you guys notice the new case that made a cameo at the end? Looks like the 76 maybe?

I wish they'd provide some updates on the 23.5. I still have a while to go but they've said they've been a bit behind on them so I'm wondering where they are with those orders. I'm only in week 3 of my wait. It should arrive around the same time as my iPad 2 so it will work out nicely.

Pictures of my Case

Okay I resized the pictures and here's my case.
Three things that aren't perfect
--Camera hole is misaligned a bit
--splinters
--no foam for the sound chamber

Everything else looks good though
