My order #12XXX is 6 weeks today but it hasn't even started production. According to their Facebook page #96XX 23.5 only shipped this past Friday.

When I emailed Scott today, he responded quickly to let me know that the white leather for the 23.5's they got was not up to their standards and has caused a delay in 23.5s. He guessed a 2 week delay so I'll be running up against 8 weeks before my Portenzo even ships. Disappointed to say the least mostly because again there's no visibility into what's going on at Portenzo and that customers have to actively query them for information instead of getting notifications or an update.

Still, if it's really only 2 more weeks out, I'll be happy. More than that, they're really pushing it. Maybe I should be difficult and open up a PayPal claim but honestly that just delays the order for everyone else who is in the same boat.

It's too bad about the delays, they would be getting a lot more sales if it weren't for the bottleneck. I think only the more hardcore ipad/electronics people would be willing to wait 2 months for a case, the casual people would more likely go to bestbuy and pick one out.

I noticed on their FB page that they just hired one or two more guys so hopefully that will speed some things up.

A little birdie told me I was going to get an Ipad2 for Father's Day, so I decided to order a case to go with it. I really liked the Moleskine look and I narrowed my choices to Portenzo and the Pad & Quill.

If I could walk into a store and pick one up, I would have chosen the Portenzo. The Portenzo offers many more options, looks great and I like the look of its corners much more than the Pad & Quill.

However I ended up ordering the Pad & Quill Octavo simply because I could get it in a week. I ordered it on June 5th and it was at my house on the 10th.

I really like my Pad & Quill. Quality looks good. I just can't see how the Portenzo would be that much better than what I have.

I just can't imagine waiting 8 weeks for ANY case.

Finally got my Portenzo. Gorgeous case. So pissed at myself, thought I ordered without camera hole.......not a deal breaker, especially when I don't want to wait another 8 weeks to fix my mistake.

I'll cover it with duct tape, it'll look more official.

I must be missing something. There are so many replies in this thread, but looking at the product I don't understand the popularity. Not a dig, genuinely curious. Looks bulky and... I dunno..nothing special.

Why so popular?

The quill looks pretty nice but I did a little research and it seems that some individuals had warped cases "edges" etc. How would you rate yours on a scale of 1-10?

It is probably popular, but I'm guessing a significant amount of the discussion on this thread is about or related to the long wait times. It's more fun to wait together I guess.

Some people like this style, and they are all kind of bulky so this just happens to be the best quality of those.

I am thinking about canceling my order and getting a different case, it's annoying how a bunch of cases do not ship to Canada though (Toblino, STM Skinny, etc...)

I think the quality aspect is in the details of the case. Magnetic latch, spine lines up very well, overall reviews from it were outstanding.

To truly understand it you have to time travel to eight weeks ago, to understand how the "state" of the case world.

I haven't actually placed the Ipad in the case. The Ipad is still in its box, but from what I see, I can't find any issues with warping on the Octavo.

Maybe once I have it in the case, I will notice if there is any warping.

With that being said, I give it a 9. Just because I am a generous Judge.

Hope that helps.

Although I have heard good things about the P&Q I do not think that you can give them a
9 and you cannot even put the I-Pad in the case. There are a lot of similarities between the two. Part of the rave about the Portenzo case is that they have a reputation of holding the I-Pad more securely than the competition. So get that I-Pad out of the darn box and put it in the case a give an honest review of the case. That is unless you are rating on speed of delivery. :)
I can't believe you still have the I-pad in the box, I had mine in use shortly after purchase.

Any other cases with sound port technology?

I love the Portenzo and I'd like to order one but I'd rather not wait 2 months for it. Does anyone know if there are other cases available that employ a similar technology to route the sound from the back of the iPad toward the user?

That'd be sweet.

It's supposed to be my Father's day gift. My wife told me to go ahead an open it, but I am gonna let my kids wrap it up and give it me.

Yeah, maybe my opinion on the case will change once I use it for a few days. I will post my thoughts in the Octavo thread sometime next week.

Like I said, Portenzo cases look great, I wish I had one. Maybe Ill order one in October for my Christmas present :)

It's all good, I am like a little kid at Christmas. Always shaking the box and sometimes even playing with my NEW toy before the big day. :)

Check out Rook Case, they offer the same sound chamber that directs the sound forward, fast shipping and great prices.

Oh no! I have not received a replacement case yet and I was promised one exactly 3 weeks ago. Meanwhile, I've gotten complements on my defective case because it pretty much looks like a composition book from the outside. I've left it on the couch and my mom has sat on it a couple of times by accident.

My case is also seeing some wear and tear similar to that of a used notebook. The edges and corners of the composition material are fraying and turning white. The Portenzo sticker inside looks really messed up now because the ink on it rubbed off and has shifted places. The case is still functional though and the binding has held up.

Oh and the secret power button thing is really lame. I've only used it a dozen times. However, it's gotten to the point where the feature now only works half the time and only if I press really hard. I think repeated pressing compresses the wood so it no longer makes contact with the power button.

I know you mentioned you were using a cleaning product on your case. You may want to make sure there are no oils on the corners. Try cleaning them with some rubbing alcohol and if that does not work shoot me an E-mail. Thanks, Scott

I thought your case had already shipped... I will look into it and send an E-mail to you. Thanks, Scott

That case sounds pretty bad. Falling apart, poor printing, and most importantly not protecting your iPad. Yikes. Think about it like a book. Most books don't last forever when you're constantly moving them around, pulling them in and out of bags, etc. They get busted up pretty quick. Books only last when you leave them on a shelf!

Only turd in here seems to be you. I did not read.anything in that post that suggested the book cover was not protecting the I-Pad. If anything it sounds to me that they have pretty much nothing to complain about.
I mean give me a break from the sounds of it, they have not bothered to attempt to care for it if it is getting sat on and the such. If you can sit on it and it is still functioning at a fraction of what it was intended to do, I would be pretty impressed. Try that with a Dodo case or something and you would have a pile of kindling wood.

No need to insult me just because Portenzo is making poor quality cases (well, I may be exaggerating in saying they are actually making their cases, because it seems like they can't even ship any.) You don't pay $60-$100 for a custom case and it falls apart in weeks. Sounds like very poor quality, too high of costs, and a poorly run business.
