Received my new portenzo case about a week ago after they replaced my old one. The quality seems way higher, but one of the corners still does not seat properly. The iPad actually sits slightly above the wood. I'm worried that in a couple months the rubber edges will weaken and the iPad will fall out. Im going to use it for a bit more in the hopes that the corners will somehow magically fit the device better.

Ordered my portenzo 4 weeks ago and having only read good reviews. Reading some of these is making me worry now! My girlfriend got a patsons case a few weeks ago for her iPad 1 which came quickly. It's been great and nicely made but they don't do a case for the iPad 2 yet :-(

Should I wait for my portenzo?!

What all these reviews don't tell you is that they stand behind their product better than all the other case makers and offer more options.

Bought my Portenzo Ipad1 Black Morocco case back in January. The past months the grips are showing wear. Now, two grips do not hold the ipad anymore. I guess it is just a matter of time before the other two grips are worn out and something terrible will happen to my Ipad.

I will keep you updated about the process of my return under warranty.

I'm convinced none of the wood cases will hold the pad long term. Compression/friction just won't hold up. They need to "snap in" in some way, like the plastic backs avail today.

Just e-mail Scott at awesomeperson@Portenzo.com. He has been very helpful with me and others like yourself.

Good point about the snapping part Glen.

Amazing product and amazing company

Having been incredibly impatient at first, when my Portenzo 23 1/2 arrived I found that it was gorgeous. After a few weeks of use I found that the fabric was unraveling around the edges. I wrote to Portenzo and they stood behind their product. Offered to either refund or replace it. I just received the replacement in the mail. It is perfect.

I have to say that I am a total convert to this company. I will used them again and highly recommend them to family and friends. My next purchase will be the composition notebook. Very clever 'disguise' indeed.

Portenzo is amazing - !!

I received my Portenzo case in Late June and use it constantly. Not only is the quality outstanding, the durability is just as amazing. It has survivied my grandkids droping it thought I almost fainted when they did, as well as it gettong knocked out of my hands.

When it got knocked out of my hands it fell directly on one pf the corners and slightly cracked. I used some wood glue and a brace, lightly sanded the next day it it is as good as new.

I love my case and everyone that sees it wants one two.

After three solid months of daily use my custom black leather Portenzo 23 1/2 is still as solid as the day I received it. My only gripe is the bottom right corner (by the speaker) doesn't grip as well as the other corners, it's just a tad loose. I agree with glen e and other users that somehow integrating a polycarbonate shell into the frame in the future is probably the way they should go. That said, I'm still very happy with my purchase, the case is perfect for using in my office, offsite with clients, etc. - very professional looking. For serious rough & tumble road use I sometimes go with the Switcheasy Canvas, especially on planes as it offers better viewing angles for watching movies.

Choice of case

I have been reviewing cases to buy my father in law for his new ipad 2. I thought the book style would be a good choice, perhaps fitting his age group well. After reading this entire thread, i've come to this conclusion. First my eyes are bloodshot, you people are nonstop about this case. Most importantly, I cant overlook all of the negative posts regarding product quality. I wonder how long a company making something by hand can continue to replace faulty product. Finally, the cost should represent something that lasts a long time, but apparently no matter what, the rubber corners wear out. Unless I've missed something special, I'm going to buy something else.

Can't help waiting for my new case too.Cath Kidston iPad 2 case with many flowers ...... I eager to make up my new iPad 2 now!!!!:D

I stopped using mine a few months ago as it was not holding my iPad consistently anymore. I keep forgetting to ask if I can get a full refund as I'm not going to keep dealing with a product that has design flaws that seem like they will keep recurring. I think you're spot on in your assessment.

I ended up going with a snap on plastic back, the Apple smart cover (already had it), and a slipcase for when it leaves the house. Works better for me, and less bulk when you're actually using the device.

For anyone asking about wait times, I ordered my case 7 days ago and it already shipped, guess they've caught up on demand.

I just ordered my portenzo. I really do hope I won't have to wait longer than a few weeks until I get it.

Woot Woot!

I just ordered the Teju and I can't wait to get it. Hope I don't' have to wait too long, BUT I will wait as long as it takes to get a good product. I don't want it rushed at all.
Just wondering how to Teju stands up to everyday use.
Anymore comments from Teju owners?

I ordered a Teju, got it relatively quickly, but it was warped to the point of not securely holding the iPAd2.

Got an RMA and sent it back requesting a 76 instead, which they were kind enough to accommodate. That has taken several weeks now, and still no case.

A friend of mine ordered a 76, and his came in warped.... He has had worse luck getting a replacement - they went so far as saying some warping was normal!!

I think a derlin plastic for the front & back may be needed. Not green, but it they want to survive, they need to make cases that people will want to keep!

long term -plywood has no place in ipad frames....

eeeee,
Seems like the quality is kinda random coming out of Portenzo:confused:.
I hope I receive better...

In their defense, Scott has kept on top of each email I sent to them, letting me know what was going on.

I recently found out the 76 is having material issues.

As to the plywood - that I don't mind. I think it's the thin wood front/back panels that create the issues.

They could use derlin or some other plastic, and offer an upgrade path at a discount to keep the plastic in use and not in landfills. Say a new iPad comes out in a different format, send your old case in for a new one.... they could recycle the old plastic... and no warped cases = happy customers.

Just got a replacement case for the one I bought back in March due to the rubber grips becoming loose. (They gave me the option of sending it in for repair or getting a new one half price.. I went with the latter). Happy with the customer service!

So this new one has the maple plywood instead of the old birch plywood, which I definitely like better. Looks cleaner, stronger, smoother. The corner grips are now clear and seem more firm than the black ones they replaced. BUT.. one thing I don't like- the case is now ~2mm thicker! Did anyone else notice this?
