I did some more shake tests and my ipad comes out really easy and the bottom right corner piece is peeling up on one edge. I sent them an e-mail last night for a replacement so I will let you all know how it goes.

I hate to see that because I really like the case.

They won't replace it, they will "repair it".....replacements are for cases that are destroyed/unusable

I almost wish I would have gotten The natural vs the dark blue it was more navy... I was expecting a vintage looking blue.

They emailed me back and are sending a shipping label so I can return to get new corners.

Sell your Portenzo?

I had the Portenzo for my original iPad and loved it. It held up great over the past year.

I want to get a new one for my iPad2... but not sure I want to wait out the 4 to 6 weeks (I know.. patience is my issue.. just ask my wife...)

Is there anyone with buyers remorse who wants to sell their Portenzo? PM me.

Sadly, it's not even been a week and my lining has wrinkled & began pulling back right over the magnets. I shot an email off this morning to let TP know. Sucks for sure but I might just super glue myself to avoid any more whatnot, I'll wait see their response first.

*Small side note, I ran into a guy who had his iPad 1 with his Portenzo first generation, I thought it looked far far better than mine, the bamboo etc. In all honesty, the more I look at the wood frame the more I feel like the case is overpriced. I love the design, I love the options, etc. - I feel the materials are down a notch from the first generation, could just be me, still glad I have it, hopt to get this resolved one or another.
All the pics I see of the corners makes me uneasy....that's a LOT of folded material to glue down...and I don't think it looks very clean.

In person, mine looks very clean. I see what you mean, but the way it's folded it gathers up nicely and isn't bulky at all.

The level of craftsmanship on mine is extremely high, particularly on the "bookbinding" level.

I would have ordered a Portenzo if I could have gotten a response/quote on a custom case.

I went with the Dodo Limited Edition for the Book Binding thing...so far so good.

I'll try to get a review and pics of it up soon.

My top right and bottom right corners were not holding my ipad securely. I would push the iPad down but it would simply slide back up so that the ipad was actually a little higher than the rubber. I told Darin about this and he said he would send me out a new case as soon as possible. Very good service.

Did he ask you to send back the old case first?

I think a customer's attitude and personality has something to do with customer service.

Even when you go to the Apple store. How you act determines what your experience is.

Justsayin!

They should let you keep the old one until you receive the new one. Otherwise your iPad would be unprotected. I said SHOULD I don't know if that's what Portenzo does.

That's how they did mine. They couldn't have been nicer about it. I have no complaints on their customer service.

I received my Black Morocco/Sky Blue case today, and of course, my wife "doesn't like it". Ugh. So if anyone is interested in buying it from me, please send me a PM. I'm looking to sell it to get my money back ($85). I can provide pictures if you want.

Guys - a little input here

Are u finding this cover to be functional ?

It looks great but I don't get it.

Do u guys watch movies with this case? Use it in bed? Seems more form over function

But u guys tell me!!

Depends on what you want. I love that a case like this has a built in cover to protect the screen, and when closed, makes it look like you are carrying a book, rather than an iPad. It functions nicely as a stand for watching video, or for putting it at a nice angle for typing in landscape. It may not be as fully functional as some cases, but it is far more beautiful, and uses materials that are nice to handle, much as handling a bare iPad is - something that most cheap synthetic cases can't offer.

For me, I'm using it on the go, on the train, in school, in bed. Don't use it on a table or anything like that, usually holds it in hand or in the lap. I have the elastic so I can put it on a table without slipping, but I got it for looks not for functionality. It can stand on the table if you want to see something if you like, and protects it pretty nicely.

It all depends what you want from a case, what kind of things do you want the case to do?

I do like the look but it looks like it lacks stability in portrait mode which I'd use in bed or on the plane.

Typing mode - it looks too low - or is okay?

I like how classy it looks :) - Im interested in an alternative case.

Right now I rock the black neo canvas. Very functional. But not the sexy leather.

That is nice that it looks like a book; less attention and low profile
