It is impossible to have a screen protector that looks decent. Even protectors with curved edges just aren't the same.:(

The whole point of quartzglass and gorilla Glass are to make screen protectors obsolete. My iPhone 5 hasn´t had a screen protector and it doesnt have a scratch after numerous drops and attempted scratches by keys in my pockets.

With the quality of current display panels there is no need anymore for screen protectors.

Where are the 5.5" component leaks? Are these leaks coming from a supplier who is only contracted for the 4.7" iPhone?

I'm starting to wonder if the iPhone 6 5.5" is vaporware.

I really never understood why people spend all this money on a gorgeous phone only to spend more money covering it up and life proofing it with crappy plastics. Why?

because replacing a $4-600 device after an accident really sucks. and yes, accidents happen, even to people who take care of their devices. you cannot make accidents impossible, which is why you drive a car with airbags and seat belts.

glad i could clear that up for you!

I hope that it doesn't have the curved glass. These are terrible.

Samsung did this on the Galaxy S3 and switched back to flat on the S4 and S5.

Nexus 4 had curved glass on the edge and it made swiping gestures feel much more fluid. I am actually not happy the Nexus 5 doesn't have it.

But screen protectors were not a problem. Not that Apple would make a decision based on something like a screen protector in the first place...

Go to a used cell phone store and look at the Gorilla glass on the phones there.

Maybe all these people keep their keys in the same pocket as their phone or let in bounce around in their purse... But they scratch regardless.

Didnt even know my nexus 4 has a curved screen Lol cant rly tell

OMG It's real!

Thank you Tim Cook for being a great CEO!

I know Steve would not have done this and that's why you ROCK!

Nice to see the 4.7 inch version is only marginally larger than the 5s.

Looks like 5.5 will work better for my needs. The 4.7 doesn't offer much of a difference if your goal is to consume media and you don't care about 1 hand use.

really liking the look of this.
And now I see a slight charm (maybe not a preference) to the white. hmmm

the doubling down could still be in affect. every now and then throw a few things out there. gets the Apple Fan base super excited, furious, but still talking.

Same here I'm eagerly awaiting for the 5.5 if indeed it's real I'll be getting my hands on it in September or whenever.

iOS 7 introduced edge swipes. I'm assuming a slightly curved or beveled edge would make edge swipes more fluid and natural feeling?

Now you can see, there is a difference between sonny dicksons mockups and the real deal. Bezels were a lot bigger in the sonny dicksons dummy models. Can' t wait to see the real 5.5 inch instead of the dummies with huge bezels on top and bottom of the display.
Have faith apple and jony wil deliver.

Urgh. Now I'm really struggling to choose between 4.7" and 5.5"! Seeing the 4.7" next to the 5s shows that 4.7" is probably big enough and is actually significantly bigger than the 5s than I'd first thought. But I do sometimes envy the bigger screens available on Android and that's pushing me towards the 5.5". I guess I'll just wait and see what ends up being official.

Oh I thought the 3.5" screen was the perfect size Steve Jobs?

Oh that's right you're dead.

Steve would have never allowed this.

Can't wait for these new phones!

With a multitude of photos taken as selfies, why not place the same quality camera on the front as in the back, and have the processing unit only work with one camera at a time, so as not to multiply extra hardware?

Not sure how I feel about it.

The light shows off the slight bevel on the edges of the glass to be seamless (Sort of like the lumias or nexus 4). That is going to look and feel amazing!

Always thought that was tacky. Not so much on the Xperia Z, Nexus 5, and iPhone, where the glass is edge to edge and flat. It makes the device look really sleek, imo. I would throw Galaxy S in there, but the patterns don't really do it.

Screen protectors are horrible

I'm digging the curved edges.

Hopefully the screen will indeed be sapphire and won't require a screen protector.

Agreed. It sucks when a phone smashes (many of us have been there). Very thick cases and screen protectors do get in the way of the experience though. I love the tactile feel of the product, so what I use is a sock sleeve, rather than a case, so I can take it off and handle the device directly when it's in use.

The screen no longer scratches as badly as it used too in early generation iPhones. Whatever generation of Gorilla Glass is currently used is pretty much scratch resistant, so long as you don't scratch it with a key or sharp object. And of course, if the next generation has sapphire glass, then a screen cover is moot. It's the keys that will scratch, not the phone.
